My former employer, Fenway Health, has chosen not to provide care to trans folks under 19, because the agency is primarily funded through HHS contracts that will be cancelled if they continue providing services. AFAIK, they haven't even put a replacement referral program in place yet. Upsetting.

An exhausted, frustrated Murphy had some things to say last night as the vote was finishing up as 8 Dems caved. This is profound. Perhaps HE should replace Schumer?!
I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

Aaaand Senate Dems caved, voting to reopen govt until January. Yes, SNAP resumes, air travel improves, no federal layoffs. BUT NO HEALTH CARE either. Here's the list of dems who voted yes: Hassan, King, Cortez-Masto, Shaheen, Kaine, Fetterman, Durbin, Rosen.

This “deal” is a surrender that all congressional Democrats should reject out of hand. It’s bad policy that will raise healthcare prices and bad politics that gives the regime more power to do more harm. Make no mistake: As some Senate Democrats consider surrender, Republicans are losing this fight.
🚨 We’re hearing that Senate Democrats are on the verge of caving to Trump in another “Schumer Surrender.”

That means your Democratic senators need to hear from you right now.

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

I've looked at all the details of this deal to end the shutdown reached by a small group of Senate Democrats. I've talked to a number of friends on the Hill to see if there's anything I'm missing. Sadly, I am not.

This is a shit deal. It's a betrayal. It's cowardice.

EXCELLENT discussion of the current legal mess around, and SCOTUS involvement in, the RI order to pay SNAP funds. This one really needs clown-car type circus music behind it tho.

A great explainer of the SNAP shenanigans today from legal scholar Steve Vladeck. Buried deep in the piece is this priceless line, which made me chuckle, given the absolute chaos of T's presidency: "All of this is, of course, no way to run a railroad."

"Such senseless sidestepping of the obvious equitable outcome has become an unfortunate pattern," Jackson concludes. "So, too, has my own refusal to look the other way when basic principles are selectively discarded."

Pretty clear Stephen Miller, Noem, Hegseth and Trump are trying to provoke a Civil War at this point. What's interesting is they want to do it now, because even though they're unpopular, they seem to believe this is the most popular they'll be ever again. We can't let them win.
This is a breathtaking abuse of the law and power by the President of the United States.

America is on the brink of martial law.

Do not be silent.
This evening, President Trump is ordering 400 members of the Texas National Guard for deployments to Illinois, Oregon, and other locations within the United States. No officials from the federal government called me directly to discuss or coordinate.

They largely want the studios & sports and don’t care about the news org. In fact, they would love it gone. Why? Because rich men, especially tech men, think they deserve no criticism and also need constant fluffing. They value a mirrortocracy over a meritocracy and welcome a mediocrity.
