Reading "The Golden Generation" by @orenweisfeld.bsky.social taught me so much about the history of Canada's men's basketball team. It's an incredibly detailed book and I really enjoyed speaking to him about writing it www.timescolonist.com/national-spo...
From Naismith to SGA: 'The Golden Generation' tells Canada’s men’s basketball story
When Oren Weisfeld set out to write about the story of Canada’s national men’s basketball team, he wasn’t sure how many of the sport’s biggest names would agree to talk.

Mark Wolf, a federal judge appointed by Reagan, is resigning after 40 years on the bench.

In an essay published by The Atlantic this week, he wrote, “The White House’s assault on the rule of law is so deeply disturbing to me that I feel compelled to speak out. Silence, for me, is now intolerable.”

Me, writing an email: I better craft three full paragraphs, with proper grammar and a few concluding bullet points, to make sure that my meaning is entirely clear.

Rich people writing emails: "good to be.. well connect on that. ,, none can tell.try to say what and we know."

Raptors 905 have allowed 94, 92, and 75 points this season, when the league average so far is 116.

A ton of small sample noise in 3 G League games but that's a heck of a start.

An interesting speech was given at Nelson's Remembrance Day ceremony. A veteran of Afghanistan chastised the federal government for forgetting the contributions of CAF during that war, and called for improved mental health supports.

Reading Tyler's tweets made me realize that maybe Sabra is supposed to be typical of a left-leaning white woman who is not actually intersectionalist in her approach to feminism. IF that was the intention, it's actually quite progressive. A big if, though
Sabra is the long-suffering wife trope, albeit in an oddly feminist movie. She longs for civilized society. She starts a women’s club and builds up the newspaper after Yancey has abandoned the family, and is later made a congresswoman. But she never gives up her hate for Indigenous characters.

A wild thing about this movie is that all the posters and such make the hilariously named Yancey Cravat out to be the hero but -- spoiler warning on a 95-year-old movie -- he's not in the second half of the film
How racist can a movie be to win a Best Picture? Folks, let me introduce you to 1930’s Cimarron in the latest Ranking Best Pictures with @jchidleyhill.bsky.social and myself.

The Mavs are firing Nico Harrison NINE months after the Luka trade.

Probably the 2 worst trades of my lifetime (not including some of the ones that didnt age well: Nets-Celts etc)

According to Muckrack I have surpassed 25,000 bylines in my 16-year career. That can't possibly be right, since I know they count duplicates - my scheduled story that moved this morning counted for 42 bylines, for example - but it does feel momentous! I'm going to celebrate with a coffee and pastry
