Mississippi had to increase Black representation thru redistricting but then turned around and made it harder to vote with new restrictions on mail-in ballots. Voter suppression will be on the rise as we move into mid-terms and SCOTUS will approve.

“Striking down Mississippi’s law would mandate massive nationwide overhauls of essential post-election activities and destabilize election administration,” Joshua Tom, the legal director of the ACLU of Mississippi, told Capital B.
Supreme Court Case Threatens Mail-in Ballots for Black Voters

Of course. Justice Alito pauses decision in TX redistricting case so now it goes to full court who will enjoin it. But that means it will go back for full trial. It’s so obvious this shouldn’t move forward it’s too late to redistrict AND it’s an unlawful effort to get rid of minority districts.

Amazed at some of the discourse among Black New Yorkers (people I grew up with) about how Mamdani’s socialist ideas will destroy NY and they will never get done. These are working class people thinking the status quo of a city where only the rich thrive is better than an economy for all?
