“If there is media coverage suggesting we have used a dataset we know to be pirated, such as LibGen, this may undermine our negotiating position with regulators on these issues”

Surprised to discover that in a mind boggling act of self sabotage, PW has let themselves be assimilated by AI

Unsure what creators should do beyond the funny “no” comments on this post. PW is such a trusted and central fixture of our industry. Was?
AI isn’t coming to publishing—it’s already here. PW’s new AI for Publishing Bootcamp gives teams the tools and workflows to keep up.

First session is Feb 11. Early Bird pricing is now open.

Activist Mollie Davis unfurled a scroll of all the school shootings in the US
In 2019.

I deliberately showed the end of the scroll in this illustration, with the hope & belief that there will be an end someday.

How much longer until we act??

My heart is with the families who sent their children off to Brown this semester, full of hope and excitement about their future, and who have been counting down the days until they are reunited for the holidays. And with everyone who spent Saturday night in fear — many in a basement, without food 💔

Last night as I tried to wedge a container of leftover turkey into the fridge, it slipped from my hands and hit the ground corner first, popping the lid & splattering an arc of shredded meat across the kitchen like a bad horror film.

— The best part of the traditional Thanksgiving Dinner is the apps. The best T-Day meal I ever had was the All-Appetizer Friendsgiving I organized in grad school.

— The second-best part is fun cocktails/mocktails.

We’ve got a spiced sweet potato syrup this year - what should we make?
Tell me your Thanksgiving Dinner Hot Takes.

I’ll start:
— Sweet Potato Pie is VASTLY superior to Pumpkin Pie

— The best turkey in the world is not as good as an average roast chicken.

— Stuffing should not actually be stuffed inside the bird for several reasons but mostly: Ew

Thank you @heykellyjensen.bsky.social for the opportunity for @padmatv.bsky.social & myself to share what we learned working for Freedom to Read in Rhode Island. Our hope is to make things a little easier for the folks running the next leg of the race!
Three states have anti-book ban bills on deck coming into 2026. Here's what those bills look like, how to get involved, and what the advocates behind the recently-passed freedom to read bill in Rhode Island learned through the process.

Thank you veterans for your service! Also thank you active duty members of the armed forces and federal employees for keeping the country going - for some, with unpaid labor. (Photo is the Jamestown Veteran’s Day ceremony stage setup - so beautiful I had to pull over and snap a photo)

Our middle school just presented us with an IEP with one goal for our kid: learning to raise her hand.

This was not a joke. They presented this seriously, as if they believed this was actually meeting her needs.
