My brother just mentioned Memoria College, which looks interesting! I signed up for a short course on an introduction to classical pedagogy.

I love how many groups are now offering courses like this.

I read a small part of Miguel de Unamuno's poem, «El Cristo de Velázquez», with my students last week.

It made me think of Four Quartets by T.S. Eliot.

It's a long poem that rewards deep reading. Here are a couple of interesting lines:

I'm finishing up teaching a course on Eschatology & Revelation. Of any doctrine this is the one that requires more understanding of the whole Bible.

I was privileged to teach, but I have a long way to go to say I have a grasp on everything!

I haven't done a Read the Bible in a Year plan in ages, since I've been reading a lot slower in Hebrew and Greek.

For 2025 I've decided to use a Catholic Bible reading plan so I can finally force myself to read the Apocryphal books (I've started them several times and never finish.)

I'm challenged by the pure joy of Thomas Traherne in Centuries of Meditations. He marveled in small, everyday graces. For example,

"Is not sight a jewel?
Is not hearing a treasure?
Is not speech a glory?"

I finally finished Assimil's book for Hebrew. If you get the MP3s, this is a good way to improve your Hebrew. My only suggestion for making it better would be to make it a story instead of just 85 isolated conversations.

Este fue un tuit mío en Twitter hace años:

En Isaías 9:6-7 los títulos del Mesías forman un quiasmo con las descripciones del v. 7.

Traté de dibujar la idea...

"There is but one proper and ultimate literal fulfilment of any prophecy; but, in anticipation of that there are typical and precursory fulfilments— preliminary rehearsals in advance of the grand performance."

I find it fascinating that the phrase ἃ δεῖ γενέσθαι only appears in Dan 2:28-29, 45 (LXX), and Rev 1:1; 4:1; 22:6.

I suppose that it depends on what you do with Daniel, but this seems like good evidence to read to read Revelation futuristically.

Any thoughts? @svigel.bsky.social

I have like 700 some followers on Twitter, but I've enjoyed the experience here more. I'm finding I'm not wasting as much time because the posts of others have been great. Just looking for more accounts in Spanish about theology, Bible, etc.
