At this rate I'm going to become a raging alcoholic before March. I have consumed more alcohol since Jan 1st 2026 than I did in the last 5 years& that's definitely saying something given all that happened during that time including my dad dying at the height of Covid. #iran #usa #worldisburning

I have already purchased more tix for plays, musicals, concerts (classical, rock, etc.) , operas & ballets in this month than I did in the first six months of all.l of last year...& I bought a LOT those first six months. That should tell you where my stress & anxiety levels are already in 2026.

Message from one of two friends who was able to connect. The "it was for nothing" is because the Western government's sat by and did nothing while people were slaughtered, as they have time and again when it's primarily NOT white people.

Had the most intense, vivid, and "action packed " dream last night that was a combo of Hunger Games, Blake Crouch's novel "Run" * The Last of Us. I have vivid, intense dreams EVERY night since I was little, often scary or dangerous ones, & this was probably a top 5 in my life. #dreams #dystopia

I had a great day at work today b/c I managed to save four people's jobs who weren't even on my team but who I knew more about than their so called managers of several years did and went to bat for them when their own managers wouldn't cos they're suck ups who don't want to jeapordize their own job.

Everytime I see the panic people get into over a snowstorm and the run on the grocery stores I am reminded of how Baba would say if civil war broke out in this country it'd go Lord of The Flies on itself in less than two weeks.
Also, why do people act like this is their first snowstorm each time?!

I loved Julia, Sandra Newman's retelling of 1984 from the character's viewpoint, but felt a bit let down w/ where & how the book ended vs. where I thought it should've. Except in light of events this past year esp., including this latest speech at #Davos , I now appreciate the ending iso much more.

I asked my therapist if she'd had an increase in emergency/off schedule sessions. She said every morning her inbox & voicemail are full, esp w/ people who'd been at the once a month point comfortably for a while, now asking if she had any time ASAP. Weirdly hearing that made me feel less alone.

I don't know how people can work.
I mean I know why people need to work but I don't know how they're expected to or are actually accomplishing that. I have done maybe two hours of actual work all week because if I'm not thinking/worrying/checking on news from #iran I'm doing it for stuff here.

The only thing that made me genuinely laugh week is all the people threatening to boycot Jeopardy because of @kenjennings.bsky.social comment about who he'd back in a 2028 election and why. Honestly funny that they'd think anyone would believe they were ever Jeopardy fans.
The “prosecute the former regime at every level” candidate has my vote in 2028.

In the past 48 hours I've booked a trip to London, 8 more plays in the US apart from the ones I'm booking for the trip and on top of what I'd already booked, multiple literary events & programs, and several concerts-- all in the next two months. If we're gonna crash & burn I'm living it up til then.
