Disabled/Neurodivergent/Chronically Ill folk. We survive in solidarity and sustain ourselves by moving together. With the next generation leading us, and our ancestors pushing us forward, supporting us.
#Disability means that not only do I work full time, not only am I a PhD candidate, not only am I a spouse and step-parent, but I'm also a patient. The amount of time spent at doctors' offices, specialist appointments, etc., is, at the very least, a part-time job that I am not being compensated for

#Inclusion requires acknowledging past ableist violence. We must validate and support disabled people's experiences of exclusion and work together to ensure reparations are made, and anti-ableist practices are at the centre of access and equity for disabled folks.

True #inclusion and #accessibility takes into account socio-economics, the dynamics of privilege and oppression, and centres leadership of the most impacted by the violence of inaccessibility and exclusion (and yes, these things are a form of violence).

Make sure to check in on your disabled neighbours, friends, community members as the storm/snow comes.

Just FYI to my city (Halifax) - disabled folks still need sidewalks in winter. Disabled folks still need bus stops to be accessible in winter. Disabled folks still need access in winter.

Give up the idea that you can be everywhere for everyone, doing everything. A focus is not an exclusion. We do our best as our bodyminds can.

There's more violence in schools because there's more violence in the world and everyone can feel it. Yout think young people can't? They feel it more.

Disabled bodyminds are as diverse as any other aspect of identity - and no less valid in community, regardless of disability or diagnosis. #Disability

Those especially harmed by unmitigated illness include people who are BIPOC, trans, queer, disabled, immigrants, children, elderly, women, and/or poor.

Those who benefit from illness harming the aforementioned: fascists, colonizers, the ultra wealthy, bigots.

Refuse to be weaponized. Mask up.

Masking when you are sick is an act of true care.
December 8, 2025 at 8:18 PM
Hey though why is no one masked at the blood collection? #NSHealth especially when we are experiencing a high amount of disease this time of year.

People’s inability
To mask is disabling themselves and others

If you only do one thing starting tomorrow on International Day of persons with disabilities

Start saying disability/disabled

Euphemisms for disability are ableist. They contribute to the erasure of disabled history, community, ancestry & knowledges.

Disability isn’t a bad word.

say it. #IDPWD

Disabled students should not have to be grateful to get the support they require to succeed, feel safe, and be nurtured in schools.

Disabled people do not need to thank anyone for access and inclusion. It is our right.

Alice Wong taught us that disabled people don’t just leave memories behind—they leave infrastructure. Lineages of care. Methods of collectivity, survival. She named the connective tissue that holds our communities together, even across death, even across the losses that come too fast and too often.

A nice obituary for Alice, who was going to be recognized as one of The Post 50.

I hate that we now have to live without this phenomenal woman.
