Things I’ve needed to actively remember this week:

- health has no moral implication
- rest doesn’t need to be earned
- rest needs to be prioritised when well and when unwell
- I am not letting anyone down because I have a virus
- nothing is urgent

Microsoft Office is going up from $109 to $159 annually.

Q for writers/journos/publishers: do we need Microsoft Office anymore to file pieces or can we just use G Docs these days?

For book projects I prefer Scrivenor and there’s a discount code for @writersvictoria.bsky.social members.

74% of my friends were at a gig of a band this week I’ve never heard of til recently. My brain refused to learn new music after 2011! I recently allowed Chappell Roan in and that’s been nice. Ok, back to yelling at clouds I guess.

Oh it was Waxahatchee 🎤 🎶

I have once again produced an inedible serve of noodles when following the instructions about soaking them in room temperature water. What am I doing wrong? 🤔

This! Writers: get writing. Artists: get making. Better worlds than this can be BUILT.
despite the world becoming scary i still have a perhaps niave but unwaivering belief that a better world is possible

My 7yo has had their first song obsession where they simply must listen over and over again and do many faces reflecting their feelings.

When I was their age I got a Sony Walkman for my Whispering Jack cassette. What do kids listen to music on these days? Not with a screen, or connected to apps?

if you’re a #labor or #coalition supporter, i’ll understand if you want to avoid eye contact today…

the 2 major parties are ramming through a set of anti-democratic changes to the fundamental settings of our democracy…

entrenching incumbency, undermining fair elections.

A gentle reminder that if we miss the 1.5°C target (and we certainly will), the next target is 1.51°C and not 2°C. We need to keep fighting.

Every tonne of CO₂ emitted makes the job of future CO₂ removal harder, and every 0.01°C of temperature increase makes the world more chaotic and dangerous.

I have been reading yet another article that says something like "As the COVID pandemic fades into the distance". These people should understand that there are still on average 400 deaths from COVID each month in Australia and hundreds of thousands with long term health problems.
