Family caregivers worry over planned Medicaid cuts' impact
About 63 million Americans, or a quarter of adults over 18, take care of an older or disabled person at home, and many rely on Medicaid funding for help.

🚨 NEW: 1 in 4 American adults (63 million) are now family caregivers—20 million MORE than 2015. Our 2025 report with @AARP shows caregiving is more demanding but systems are finally responding. Progress is happening, just not fast enough.

July marks Medicaid's 75th birthday! 🎂 75 YEARS of keeping millions of Americans alive and financially stable. Meanwhile, the Senate GOP is literally voting to gut it with the deepest cuts in history. The irony is not lost on us. 💀

Nearly 1/2 of states are on the brink of a caregiving crisis yet policymakers from those very states are about to vote to gut #Medicaid to give massive tax breaks to the ultra rich... who are these people serving?

So basically he's like "you cannot take away health care from working people but I'm going to vote to taking health care from working people." Make it make sense...
Hawley is a YES

But: "This has been an unhappy episode here in Congress, this effort to cut Medicaid... Frankly, my party needs to do some soul searching. If you want to be a working-class party, you’ve got to deliver for working-class people. You cannot take away health care from working people."

#Medicaid expansion covers many people with disabilities not severe enough/incomes not low enough for SSI. It’s for adults with incomes below 138% of poverty line with most below 100%. And none of the severe Senate cuts gutting expansion are reinvested. They’re going to pay for tax cuts for wealthy.
GRAHAM to me says on Medicaid: “The thing we're trying to address that need, one thing we can't do is punt right?” Says the Obamacare expansion “actually takes money away from the disabled and the poor.” Republicans like Tillis and Hawley are worried about provider taxes hurting hospitals

Let's be clear: $880 billion in #Medicaid cuts and $230 billion in #SNAP cuts will devastate our nation's crumbling care infrastructure. Family caregiving is hard enough - these cuts will destroy essential support systems.
