My name is Jared, and I've been playing D&D for about 30 years. This game has given me immeasurable joy.
@mattcolville.bsky.social what's your take on the interaction between Ajax dying at -350 stamina and the Troubadour's Continuity Error ability? I saw the question in this Reddit post and it made me curious

Coming out of GenCon last year I was so hyped on Daggerheart. Now, after playing Daggerheart, D&D and Draw Steel for several months I’m really surprised to find myself preferring Draw Steel.

I’ve been running Rime of the Frostmaiden in Draw Steel. We’re three sessions in and I’ve been wondering if folks would be interested in me sharing more. I’ve heavily modified the campaign for my PCs.

If you are, what do you wanna know? What format do you want?

Reshares appreciated!

When I was a kid my uncle was a higher-up for WarnerBros so I got to go to the Jack Frost premiere.

At 10 years old I got to stand roughly 30 ft from Michael Keaton and Hansen.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

I thought it would be fun to share the various content creators that have influenced the way I design TTRPG campaigns and how I GM. I'll share one influence a day over the next couple of days and I'd love if folks shared theirs!

Just finished reading @dodo-decahedron.bsky.social's The OSR Onion piece on @keichiokami.itch.io's recommendation. Incredibly good.

I'm not really an OSR person (or don't think of myself that way) but I love reading about TTRPG philosophy like this.

The OSR Onion
The OSR may be best understood as a layered approach to design centered around a specific way of writing, refereeing, and playing adventures.

Honestly? I’d probably still work so I had more than “basic” income. But I’d feel more free to make sure I was happier, less stressed and more aligned with my employer.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

How do Draw Steel folks design an encounter with waves of enemies w.r.t. Encounter Strength? Is each wave its own budget? Do you use a combined budget?

I went to my first #rpg con ever this year - #GenCon - and had _so much fun_. I've been playing TTRPGs for about 30 years but have never really connected with the broader community.

It was so amazing seeing and meeting so many people excited about playing RPGs!

It's strange to me how folks say running a pre-published module is easier than coming up with your own adventure. Running a module is so much work! I've spent at least a much time prepping Rime of the Frostmaiden as I have building custom campaigns.
