We will examine how personalization of media consumption is shaping the formation of publics and what the implications are. We will be looking for both a postdoc and a phd student so stay tuned!

Am extremely honored and happy to receive a DFF2 grant from the Danish Research Council and even happier that I get to do the project with my brilliant colleague Andreas Birkbak. The project is called AUTOPUBLICS and the headline is Automated Publics: Personalized News Media - Collective Concerns?

We had the most wonderful and inspiring workshop on Datadonations today hosted by our Digital Media Lab @roskildeuni.bsky.social, great presentations by @ikepicone.bsky.social Sarah Vis Daniel Jurg and Leif Pedersen @evamayerhoeffer.bsky.social
The former ambassador to Denmark for the United States, Rufus Gifford, posted this video on his Facebook account:

Feels super scary - Greenland is still a part of Denmark, although independent, just now forming their coalition government - so to just barge in like that after threatening to “take the country”, expecting to be received with open arms. Jezzz.

This is so sad 😞

Jeeez, and to think that targeting internationalization on the BA level is not impacting whether top researchers want to come to NL🤯 like research and teaching is completely unrelated

An amazing research stay at USC Annenberg, School of Communication and Journalism, is coming to an end. Bookwriting and and productive talks with my wonderful host @mikeananny.bsky.social and even managed to catch up with Morten Bay, Ph.D. 🙌

I hugged my youngest this morning and tears ran down my cheeks. Tears for the Ukrainians, who have already risked so much and carry such a big burden, for the Americans who did not vote for this to happen, and for the peace and democracy we will continue to fight for.

It’s hard to describe the distress I feel as a European today. Like a long and dear friend has broken up with me, taken sides with the bully in the school yard, who kills and tortures and gets away with it. With my friend we used to fight for democracy, now - without my friend- I fear we may loose.

Am not posting much, cause book writing…BUT- next week I’ll be discussing some of it in person with @mikeananny.bsky.social and colleagues at USC Annenberg. Am in town for a couple of weeks, and happy to meet up with people in LA with keen interest in tech, journalism and algorithms.

In 1933, the German Chancellor dismantled democracy in only 53 days.

History does not repeat itself, but it rhymes.

Cannot se the link to the article? I’m curious of how an article is coded to be’ surprising’ or ‘useful’? Useful for you or for me is not the same right?

Super interesting, how do you define relevance?

Congratulations, it looks wonderful🥳

I agree, wonderful piece by Veronica Barassi. Made me also think about issues of trust (as a part of the moral judgement) and how acceptance of error is linked to the fetishization of AI systems.
On a topic near & dear to me—errors!—the always sharp Veronica Barassi has a great new paper:
