nobody cares if LLMs produce poor code quality

code quality is not a KPI, OKR, SMART goal, CSF, or CPI. it doesn't matter to corpos.

when poor code quality reaches criticality, business systems can fail. So let them eat cake.

"maaaaan, they don't make algorithms like they used to"

each year i become more convinced that professional software development deliberately perverts the enjoyment of programming

and it doesn't have to be this way

sometimes you just have to sit and put some hard, capital "C", Coding into it

for the love of god, please stop forking VS code

a programming language that throws pizza parties?
Thought experiment: Most programming languages were designed in an era where mostly one programmer coded in isolation. If you were designing a language for modern collaborative programming/commenting/etc., what would you change? How would you *modify* existing languages?

Love to see data in the real world

i hate to admit it but it seems talking to LLMs like corpos works best;

doing praise and criticize / feedback sandwich produced best results

ie "this is great work. Can you blah blah blah? I love the work so far"

Also saying "homie" works well too.

Just when I was about to switch to Forgejo >:)

It's always so remarkable to me how simple a tree traversal algorithm can be in Clojure

This is 10 lines of code (sans docstring of course).

if you want LLMs to write more of your "favourite programming language" for you

you don't have a favourite programming language.

You have a technology tribe.

Whelp so much for going to Conj and TwitchCon 🙃
Finally.

A major media outlet has finally reported on Trump’s total travel ban for transgender visa applicants seeking the United States.

I had to scream for two days to get someone else to report on it.

It is NOT just for athletes.

www.the-independent.com/news/world/a...
State Department visa policy could bar trans people from traveling to U.S.
Violations could result in travel bans beyond just athletes

so Claude 3.7 Sonnet sucks right?

Like definitely not as good at coding as 3.5 Sonnet?

He's building.

you know what I really hate about ruby?

Gemfile Ruby Minor & Patch versions are really major versions.

What. The. Fuck.

When people say Devin is like a replacement for an intern or junior developer, I can’t help but wonder if they’re sourcing developers from a pre-school

When I started using `git restore ...`, it was over for me.

I'm cooked.

2024 was wild.

- dated my exes
- stayed freelance after all
- started twitch & made partner
- climbed out of 2023 unemployed debt

- made every mistake with my course
- still single
- tired

For 2025 I want to downsize my apartment, and focus on course & twitch.
