It's been a while since I posted about what I am reading, so here are 4 for the price of 1! The wonderful Louis De Berniers with a magical realism set in the future - a wonderful departure - & a trilogy about a family through t last century.
All highly recommended.

The Mystery Plays had (and have) a huge impact on me. Tony Harrison was a genius and the National Theatre saw this and created magic with The Mystery Plays. Rest in Peace Tony and thank you for your legacy.
‘The man who came to read the metre’: Yorkshire poet Tony Harrison was the National Theatre bard
Harrison, who has died aged 88, wrote copiously for the stage, both as an ingenious translator and dazzlingly original dramatist

I didn’t sleep very well last night. One of the many dreams was about making stop-motion animation of the (toy) mice in my dollhouse. Even while dreaming, I knew this was a rubbish idea.

There are eight house sparrows in the #birdbath by my home office. I'm not sure if this is a record, but it's definitely evidence that water is as important for our wildlife as food.

Sorry, no photo as I didn't want to disturb them!

It’s the end of the bank holiday weekend, & what exciting things have been happening in the party-zone that is the Foster-Jennison household? Have we spent all weekend in the pub? At a festival? Visiting friends?

No.

Making plum jam & laying new Lino in the Futility Room.

Thanks for asking.

At primary school, we used to make these every autumn - very basic designs, not like this! - out of paper straws.
'Corn dollies' as part of European harvest customs, connecting to ancient beliefs involving goddess worship, fertility and the earth. Dolls were kept until the following spring to ensure a good harvest #Lammas

I love this! Paulona, or the foxglove tree, in flower in our garden. It's rather tall, so the photo was taken looking up. Like many trees, the flowers arrive before the foliage - this is the perfect point where both are looking lovely.

I quite fancy myself as an American Survivalist. I am, of course, neither American, nor a Survivalist.
I have no idea why I give headspace to this ridiculous notion.
But I do have an allotment!

The act of sending loved ones little videos and memes and things throughout the day is called “pebbling” because penguins often leave little rocks in the nests of those they care about as a sign of affection. Today is world penguin day, so if someone sends you this post, know you’ve been pebbled ;)

Lots of courting behaviour going on with the birds in our garden. Nearby, the sound of hedges being cut. Please don’t do this during nesting season; February to August, leave hedges and trees alone. Thank you.
