The point of calling credit card companies isn't to make John Visa have moment of introspection and go "aw shucks I was wrong!" it's to grind business to a halt for such an extended period of time that all the higher ups who are real people with names and addresses decide that this isn't worth it

I told her gently that this was bad publicity, and she told me that this is a known issue and it's been raised to corporate.

I'm glad that MasterCard's phone tree was solved. I had waited to call them until this morning, but I got a nice lady on the phone and I spoke from my wine biz perspective after reading all the news articles. I asked her "Will MasterCard give in to temperance extremists if they email 1000x?" (1/2) 🧵
