Football really is a sport that is predominantly rooted in, played, and supported by the regular, working/(lower) middle class.
There has a been a progressive shift away from this audience, particularly with the hosting of tournaments in certain countries. This is reflected in the ticket sales

One thing I really miss about Uni is 5 of us in the sitting room chilling on the sofas playing Fifa, Gears of War, Civilisation and Halo all weekend. Then, switching over to a LOTR marathon or football match whilst eating an unnecessary amount of takeaway for dinner.

I changed my perspective on this situation (except calling out Ian Wright) because yeah how can she be a DEI hire. Even if she is a bad pundit how many times do "they" get put in roles above their ability and have numerous attempts to fail and improve?

I'm ngl Eni Aluko comes across as very bitter and entitled, but her statements about the industry and her own career are well founded. It's her targets that are misplaced and her inability to recognise her personal shortcomings as a pundit specifically.
