Economics-knowers: how naive am I to look at OBBB-driven revenue reductions on the one hand, and incoming tariff billion$ on the other, and conclude we're basically rebalancing away from income tax toward a national sales tax (since consumers pay ~all tariff costs)? www.reuters.com/world/us/us-...

Just days ago, Brad Lander called me to interpret for an Arabic-speaking asylee whose case was approved, yet ICE was still harassing him inside the building. Brad personally escorted him out to safety. He does this kind of work quietly, every day.
Lander just got detained by federal agents as he tried to escort a man out of the courtroom. Lander was taken in an elevator with masked agents, along with one member of his NYPD security detail.

Amazingly the internet seems unable to tell me whether the NYC mayoral *general* election is decided by plurality or needs a majority (& potentially a runoff).

Imagining a nightmare split race of Mamdani (D), Cuomo (Independent because you know he would if he loses the primary) and Sliwa (R)

In 2024, landlords filed more than a million evictions in the 30+ cities and 10 states we monitor.

While some jurisdictions showed progress, others revealed concerning trends. We’re sounding the alarm in several cities. Learn more in our 2024 report: evictionlab.org/ets-report-2...

There seems to be a single-circle Venn diagram of the people who believe in AI hype, crypto hype, and MAGA hype.

These are all of a piece & unite everybody from billionaires to gig workers. The weird new political coalition that probably best defines Trump 2.0

A visionary, his films included “Eraserhead,” “Blue Velvet” and “Mulholland Drive,” considered his masterwork. He brought his skewed view to the small screen with “Twin Peaks.”
