I spent 15 years covering events like this... in foreign countries. Hard to believe (and yet I predicted it long ago) that it would come to this in my own. I could no longer sit by and be a journalist, or an analyst. I had to rise up and become an activist. www.thecasualanalyst.com/blog-1/categ...

I can no longer afford health care. If I get sick I'll die rather than saddle my family with 100s of 1000s of dollars in debt.

Republicans did this, and weak Democrats did this.

We were ready to fight. We were ready to feed our neighbors. We can provide food but but we can't provide health care

Disaster. (The redest) New England states are the ones caving despite evidence that Trump and the Republican brand is suffering the most in those states.

Unreal

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

This is predatory capitalism. They gave tax breaks to billionaires so that folks could get bills like this for healthcare.
I thought my new health insurance premium was going to be $350 per month until I got this letter informing me that it would be $1,228.28 PER MONTH. I CURRENTLY PAY $50. Is my math mathing? Is that.... a 2,356.42% increase?

2256.42%????

TWO THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED FIFTY SIX POINT FORTY TWO PERCENT😩

Holy shit, are Democrats really voting for this tonight? The largest protest movement in American history has the backs of the Trump opposition and Schumer is going to make a deal with the least popular president in history?
But I cannot support a deal that still leaves millions of Americans wondering how they are going to pay for their health care or whether they will be able to afford to get sick.

Dick Cheney used the power of his office to target political opponents, revealing the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame because her husband criticised the worst administration in history. He disgraced his office & should have died in prison.

Here's a screengrab from a video of an ICE agent repeatedly punching a man already on the ground. The man may have broken ribs. Anyone have any more details on his ID? This is attempted murder

Ukraine launched an airborne operation and tore into Russia's flank near Pokrovsk. One has to wonder whether the strategy was to wear out the Russians then launch this kind of attack to crush them.

MAGA is a cult. How did we get here? It was NOT an organic process. MAGA is a coordinated attack on democracy using weaponized narratives spread across media/social media channels by an alliance of foreign & domestic enemies.

The other thing that's happening is that homeless centrists and non-MAGA conservatives are trying to co-opt the Democratic Party for themselves because they have no other reasonable alternative. What they lack in numbers they seem to be making up for in institutional power.
U.S. journalism and punditry completely ignores the fact that the U.S. electorate belief system --including their belief of what Democrats stand for -- is shaped predominately by a massive right wing propaganda network across AM radio, broadcast TV, cable news, and the internet.
Left-wing ideas have wrecked Democrats’ brand, new report warns
The center-left group Welcome relied on polling of hundreds of thousands of voters over six months for its findings, shared first with Semafor.

Democrats: "we need to stop doing identity politics, & focus more on kitchen table issues"

Me: ok, that's a false choice. You can embrace left wing economic populism without throwing marginalized groups to the wolves

Democrats: "oh, we're not doing economic populism either"

Me: ok then...

From an article about the man in the SS uniform arrested for attacking the woman in Georgia. Just wild that we've accepted that there's a huge social media platform where an account called "@GasChambers" is allowed to openly do Nazi fundraising and that's fine, in fact all the reporters post there.
