#CBCNS posted this rare coloured footage from #Halifax #NovaScotia between 1939 to 1945 during #WWII.

Living in Halifax for over 20yrs, I still recognize the landmarks.

Even #WinstonChurchill is seen in clips. Amazing to see this old footage #RemembranceDay 2025

888,246 ceramic poppies flowing, bleeding from the walls of the Tower of London, 2014, 80th anniversary of WW1 beginning. It was a tear jerker. We were there to remember Uncle William, who was killed in action, October 25th, 1918 - just 20 years old.

#Lestweforget. I will never forget my Captain.

Hey Halifax drivers. Yeah, you. I'm seeing you zooming about as if it's a normal night. It's dark as the abyss, foggy as a steamed up car on a date night, and wet so everything shines without shadows showing where people are. So slow the f down. The number of near accidents I'm seeing is scary!!!

Flash backs here I come! American Woman! No Sugar Tonight! Clap for the Wolfman! These Eyes! Undun (with the Bond riff) .....omg this will be amazing. Like watching the Stones and Alice Cooper.

I can handle looks, stares, finger pointing and laughter as I already dealt with that as a kid in metal leg braces.

But Halifax, for f*&@ds sake, when ya see a person walking slowly with a cane, give a little space. You may stay upright if you bump into me, but I know I'll be arse over tea kettle.

This 👇

One of the best statements about Ai robbing us of meaningful discovery, and to have meaning means doing the work.

I'm printing this thread and leaving it on the desks in the lab;
A not so subtle message.
The problem, once again, is that "AI" is whatever the fuck the author wants it to be, and is essentially, "the computer does cool stuff!"

The first example in this article is basically a supercharged database, which is not generative AI. So it confuses the reader right from the start/

About every 10 minutes, a person working an uber-like job comes racing into the cafe to pick up an order.
Where are they going?
What did people ordering do before such services?
Shit, how did we survive without mobile ordering?
What are we doing with all that saved time and energy?

Get ye behind me Satan with your alt-facts proving the real value of such policies. This is meant to be a world full of cars and trucks, bumper to bumper everywhere!! A true sign of wealth and an advanced society. So slash those bike tires and build more gas stations with year-old hot dogs to eat.
It’s really important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally against bike-lanes, are now among their most vigourous supporters, because of ACTUAL EVIDENCE that they’re better for downtown business than any street parking they replaced.

Safe bike-lanes mean business.

Yowza. Been in that spot. Inside the gate (above the flag, which is enormous) were ponds full of Koi - huge suckers.
Wonder if they made a break for it. On serious note. At bottom is Perfume River (odd name) with so many homes lining the banks (so sad!) I'll add a couple of pics to show "normal"
The Vietnamese Bach Ma Mountain Peak station recorded one-day rainfall of 1,739 mm - close to the global one-day record and perhaps a new record for the northern hemisphere. It is part of a deluge Viet Nam has seen in October, shattering 35 precip records. e.vnexpress.net/news/news/en...

Vietnam's northern and central regions saw a total of 35 rain records broken in October alone as two storms, Matmo and Fengshen, caused unprecedented downpours.

During my trip to Halifax, I came across this collections of kiosks with great food options.

Wanted lobster rolls but decided to set an example for all of you

When you go on vacation, you can keep macros in balance, enjoy tasty food, and not feel cut off from new experiences

November 6, 2025 at 11:43 PM
Interesting. A Conservative MP announces he'll resign, then talks to PP and now is waiting to decide. Either way, it looks like PP has a problem in caucus. Maybe he's as big a jerk inside the ropes as he is in public.
