VERY IMPORTANT to label this as what it is, The Police State Executive Order. it's not an exaggeration. This is the inner wiring of a police state.
The first and most important thing to know about last night's Exec order is that it's intended to break current law and allow people throughout the federal gov look at yr tax returns. Beyond that it's intended to compel states to turn over all their data to the fed govt.

Donald Trump just illegally fired two independent commissioners at the FTC who fight big corporations that abuse consumers and workers.

Why? Trump's billionaire donors expect a return on their investment. He works for them, not you.

The courts must reinstate the commissioners.

Meanwhile over on the other place, rightwing free speech warriors (this guy is a former DeSantis campaign staffer) are calling for me to be denaturalized and deported because they don’t like my political speech. This is what fascism and racism looks like, folks.

The New York Times is the first to put out comprehensive estimates on the cost of a year without U.S.A.I.D. and they’re higher than I thought:
- 1.65 million deaths from AIDS
- 500,000 from lack of vaccines
- 550,000 from lack of food aid
- 290,000 from malaria
- 310,000 from TB
Killing children is by design, I'm afraid. "Pro-natalists" like Musk claim they aren't racist, but their pressure to have children is solely focused on white women, while they back policies that literally kill of non-white children.

He's a eugenicist.

Opinion | Musk Said No One Has Died Since Aid Was Cut. That Isn’t True.
A journey through the front lines of global poverty shows that when the world’s richest men slash aid for the world’s poorest children, the result is sickness, starvation and death.

32% is generally cited as the MAGA hardcore that will support Trump no matter what. Those are the people who will blame Dems for literally everything, including things like Trump's tariff tax. You can ignore them. Basically EVERYONE ELSE knows this is would be a Trump shutdown.
New Quinniac poll:

If there's a shutdown...

32% blame Dems
31% blame Republicans
22% blame Trump

That's a majority blaming Trump and/or the GOP. Hang tough, Dems.

In short, the vast majority of those who would blame Dems are Republicans already:

Is it now standard practice if you email with someone at an org for them to add you to their mailing list withoutyour consent? I've had a few people do it the past month and imo it's rude and inappropriate

You can understand almost all of American politics with just two numbers:

71% of Republican voters oppose Medicaid cuts.

100% of House Republicans are trying to cut Medicaid right now.

Reading the OPM/OMB memo out today (chcoc.gov/sites/defaul...) it astonishes me—no, pisses me the fuck off—that there is just this blanket assumption that firing people necessarily leads to efficiency. In particular, the memo fully expects RIFs in public-facing agencies to boost customer service.

1. I wrote my PhD dissertation on the social function of humor (in literature & film) and here's the thing about "just joking."
