To clarify for folks asking questions. There are:

1. 1,463 accepted ballots left to count and
2. 1,540 signature challenges to resolve.

#2 will almost certainly increase Wilson's lead. Harrell would have to get close to 100% of #1, plus a bare majority of trickle-in mail.

The race is over.
Katie Wilson leads by 1346 votes!

From King County: "As of right now (and we’ll keep seeing a handful of on-time ballots through the mail) we’ve got 1,463 accepted ballots to post plus whatever portion of the 1,540 signature challenges that get resolved."
Katie Wilson is now almost certainly Seattle's 58th mayor. We spoke just now: "We’re going to wait for all of the ballots to be counted, but I think we won this race." www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

With the votes counted today, it’s looking extremely likely that progressive challenger Katie Wilson will be declared Seattle’s next mayor after pulling ahead by 1,346 votes, or a roughly 0.5% margin, of incumbent Bruce Harrell.
JUST IN: Katie Wilson significantly extends her lead in the Seattle mayoral race.

She now leads Mayor Bruce Harrell by 1,346 votes, or 0.5%.

That's up from the squeaker-lead of 91 votes in yesterday's update). She won today's batch of nearly 6K ballots by 20% (!).

Not much left at this point.

The number of curable ballots from Seattle has edged downward a little since midday yesterday. There's now just over 1,700 curable ballots, which still skew younger.

In today's ballot count, Katie Wilson got 54.8% of the votes, narrowing incumbent Seattle mayor Harrell's lead to 4,300 votes, or 1.88%. This was almost the exact minimum threshold she needed. With about 47,000 ballots left, the final margin could end up being less than 100 votes and go either way.

BOOM. Wilson closes the gap, with many more ballots left. This is a tremendous result for her.

She trails Harrell by just 1.9% and 4,300 votes. There are many more ballots remaining than at this point in the primary count.

Happy Friday of Election Week! We expect to post around 100,000 ballots in today’s results update. That will leave around 120,000 ballots left to count, so we’ll have a large number to post on Monday, too.

Pretty big turnaround in the latest (small) batch of about 36,000 Seattle ballots, which went 51.6 percent for Katie Wilson and 48.1 percent for incumbent Bruce Harrell.
Overall, the new numbers are 52.6 Harrell, 46.9 Wilson. Yesterday, those numbers were 53.8 Harrell, 45.7 Wilson.

Today's drop was solid.

The bad news is that tomorrow's has to be better.
The great news is that the last Friday has been way steeper in 2/3 of these examples, both of which behaved more like this race on day 3.

Stay strong!
Updating my plot of historical counting trends in Seattle mayor elections. We are back to pretty a pretty standard trajectory (which is promising for Katie Wilson).

Thursday drop. Wilson trails Harrell by 9,908, 5.7%. The gap begins to close.

We are apparently STILL not into a drop box sample yet, or only including some drop box data. There's a TON of votes expected to lean Wilson out there.

If you think the problem is that the city is too expensive, vote for Katie.
