The plant in my cover photo is my favorite cactus native to Washington state! Pediocactus nigrispinus grows high up on the semi arid ridge tops in central Washington. They can be difficult to locate, but another benefit of the large wind farms nearby is providing protected habitat for these gems!

It would’ve been the perfect, and obvious, platform for the democrats to run this cycle but instead they decided they’d rather lose.
Which says, to me, that the bipartisan hatred for these companies is a.) really broad and b.) an incredibly potent political issue for whomever decides to pick it up. Not as a matter of policy, but as a matter of deep, potentially animating resentment
