Using Leishmania as a model, we determined the cryo-EM structure of the doublet microtubule to pinpoint the position of each dynein. This gave us a detailed map of where every “rower” sits on the ciliary “boat.”

What was found was an association, not causation, especially as both mostly monolingual and multilingual countries went into the analysis. I can think of quite a few factors and context effects why people speaking several languages above the age of 50 don’t age prematurely.
Doing non-causal inference (and being explicit about it), yet using a causal word as second word in the title.

If you pay Nature € 10.690, they will publish this in Nature Ageing.

I can tell you what I think of that for free.

It’s outrageous that the UN women’s rights investigator @unsrvaw.bsky.social is being accused of “not focusing on the very important work of violence against women and children” by someone who admits she doesn’t understand the term biological men but still puts male privilege before women’s rights.

If true, this would be very welcome. I had written to the IOC in June 2025 requesting that the female category in sports be protected.

One might expect a bad influenza season. The unusually early UK epidemic is predominantly composed of H3N2 strain of a subtype that has recently rapidly expanded, possibly having negative impact on VE.

H3N2 is associated with higher morbidity and mortality.
