It's a great book! We've just used stories from this to teach a plug the gap lesson about life in the Third Reich to year 9. It really helped them to understand the complexity of the situation.

There is that! I was at Rievaulx Abbey this afternoon and just stopped for 20 minutes peace and quiet on a bench. It definitely helped.

Sad not to be at this year's HA conference, and looking forward to hearing all about it from @petejackson.bsky.social on Monday. On the plus side, it's a lovely day to recce our Y7 site study trip to Rievaulx Abbey!

These look great! I really like the site evidence focus. That should definitely help the students.

What a lovely way to end the term! I hope it proves to have been useful too, but showing that engaging with History can be enjoyable is also very valuable.

It'd be a pleasure to share Tom's post even without the opportunity to win three of his books. He writes excellent, well researched historical fiction for young people. Highly recommend to history teachers, parents and anyone who enjoys a good story!

This was a really helpful blog, thanks for sharing. Helping trainees feel part of the school community is crucial. But I know I'm also grateful to tutors and mentors who helped me feel part of the wider History teaching community and I try to share that with begining teachers too.
