People critical of the BBC view it as a tax, but this is the key point. If it becomes a subscription service it no longer has to represent everyone. It just needs to satisfy those that pay for it. Which will increasingly become right wing billionaires.
A reminder that a subscription service would be the end of the BBC universality, which makes the BBC the BBC

Trump doesn’t know how magnets work, and there is definitely fun to be had here.
Do you know exactly how magnets work?
This is how Trump works. He says something that seems dumb, but also relatable. If I didn’t know better, I’d love to think that nobody except Trump knows how magnets work.

The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

I’m attempting to recreate one of the greatest sitcom episodes of all time by getting to Wales without finding out what happened in Traitors, so I can watch it with my niece. Words have been muted. No radio. But it’s the work meetings that are hardest. Everyone wants to talk about it!

Alt: It’s a gif of James Bolam in Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? In the episode, No Hiding Place, Terry and Bob have to get through the day without learning the England score. Hilarity ensures.

Huh. Wonder if this will ever get represented in the media. Why do we have to put up with Matt Goodwin on Question Time and yet no LibDem representation, eh?
🚨BREAKING: Lib Dems have won more local by-elections than any other party this month.

This is a well trodden murder in the UK, with a TV drama and a documentary. The murderer has had every appeal dismissed. I love In the Dark and I’m sure it will be a good season, but will be interesting to find out how or why they chose this case.
Five family members, murdered. A sixth in prison for life. But did the justice system get it wrong? “Blood Relatives,” a six-part series from our award-winning podcast, In the Dark, is out today.

I disagreed with Michael Lewis’ take on SBF / FTX, but The Big Short is a great book and movie. His current companion podcast is required listening. It lays out how, now more than ever, the market is rigged to ensure the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor. Where were the consequences?! #econsky

The Diplomat season 3 really is terrific. What started as a faintly ridiculous show with a stacked cast, has turned into the best political thriller on TV. Debora Cahn’s writing on the finale is so sharp and well observed. Plus more Bradley Whitford in season 4! Highly recommended. 📺 #TVsky #series
I really enjoyed the first two seasons of The Diplomat. Like a fun, slightly silly version of The West Wing. Did not expect to get all emotional over the reunion of Allison Janney and @bradleywhitford.bsky.social. What an embrace! Beautiful direction from Alex Graves. Really good TV 📺

I’m struck by those that think the death of Jota has no part in current form; that grief doesn’t make you misplace a pass. Grief makes you do a lot of funny things, but it definitely arrests your concentration. I think what defines our season so far are sloppy mistakes & misplaced passes. #LFC #YNWA

Disappointing result and performance, but full credit to Brentford who were right up for it. We’ve also really not had much luck in this run, so I think the calls for the manager’s head are madness. After Jota this season was always going to be rough. Give the team and the staff a break. #LFC #YNWA
