I am a professional cartoonist and illustrator. Dark Horse, Alternaversal (MST3K), Barista, Feral House, Stranger, Mercury, Liartown.., I am also a volunteer fossil preparator at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry and amateur fossil excavator
Main lights out in the OMSI Earth Science wing for construction, but I can work by the little Ikea bendables well enough. It’s nice and cozy. Setting a little mood lighting on the T-rex jr 3D print.

Petty tyrants, and regime changes. I did this Little Devil Chef in late ‘99 for DHP2K. Randy Stradley was my heroic editor on this for #DarkHorseComics 1/

More old spot illos that seem sadly evergreen

This was an illo I did for another Douglas Rushkoff article. I think it was about how creativity and freedom of thought and expression will still flourish despite tyranny. But I’m now thinking that was pretty “pre-2016 American” naiveté. No offense.

In 1993, one of my early freelance jobs after leaving the Dark Horse Comics production dept. was to pencil a cartoon version of David Johansen, aka #BusterPoindexter which Chris Warner inked, beautifully, for David’s/Buster’s vinyl 45 cover of “Butcher Pete”… 1/

Hey folks, the window for peaceful dissent is closing fast.

Hey kids! Look up Hitler + “degenerate” art (his term):

More #editorialcartoons I did for the Portland Mercury years back when it looked like society was starting to be more just and civilized. Weird to see things go into reverse so quickly. On the other hand there was plenty of shittiness, too, but I’ll post the shit stuff later.

OMSI’s #Paleo Lab ((dead stuff) is next to the Life Lab and the Educator from over there brought in Houdini the #snake’s skin as a special treat. You can barely make out the head of a triceratops thigh bone beneath Houdini’s skins in pic 2

A spot illo I did for Arthur magazine. Douglas Rushkoff article about how a minority of lunatic fringe types undermine the messages of legitimate dissent. In this case a 9/11 conspiracy nut.

Now the gent in the foreground is a MAGA/Q.

We will never be free of this and have to drown them out

Did some repair/restoration on a triceratops vertebra (I don’t know who originally prepared it back in the early 2000s).

Other photo is a cow vertebra, a fossil whale vertebra and the triceratops in background.

All the memes mocking the oligarchs who are “bending the knee” for trump, are all fine, and I hope it makes people feel better, but the way you can really hurt them is to stop buying their shit. Delete their apps, stop buying everything thru amazon, etc. there are in many cases, alternatives

There’s this sauropod vertebra in the paleolab at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry where I prep fossils and it’s broken in cross section so you can see all the air sac chambers.

Plugging a book I did some drawings for a few years ago. Only showing parts of them because they’re a tad risqué and anyway you should buy the book or at least get it from your library. It is a star-studded audio book, but I don’t suppose you can see the pictures.

I came upon this panel from Simon & Kirby’s, Vagabond Prince backup story in Black Cat #8 (1947!) while gathering Lee Elias reference for my part in the MST3K Comic (Dark Horse, Randy Stradley, ed) back in 2018. Incredible sense of vertiginous motion in this thing! Unforgettable.

Beautiful poster, but you’d never know this was a comedy from the art.
Tonight’s family film: 1949’s Ealing Comedy, “Whisky Galore!”.

There was an argument that cancelling your subscription to the Washington Post wasn’t a good idea. Stop using Amazon, but don’t cut yourself off from hardworking journalists trying to keep you informed…1/

I was looking for ideas on how to remove hard matrix and harder, quartzy/crystally #fossil barnacles from a very thin ridge of bone that I don’t think has been well preserved in previous fossil #skulls of this type. Reached out to a…

11/ Love working for Barista Magazine. AD Demo Fregosi and Publisher Sarah Allen are super creative and put out one of the slickest trade journals I’ve seen.
This 2 page feature illo also works as a gif (but you don’t get that. #Barista #illustration #cartoons

10/ I’ve always loved any time I’ve gotten the chance to work with Liartown Sean. Love the New Yorker article which describes one of our collaborations. Best dissy oblique mentions of an artist I’ve seen. Maybe that’s how I should sign my work: “Sean Tejaratchi’s artist friend”. Lovely
