Main lights out in the OMSI Earth Science wing for construction, but I can work by the little Ikea bendables well enough. It’s nice and cozy. Setting a little mood lighting on the T-rex jr 3D print.

I am currently waist-deep in Legos at the museum I’m working for right now.

God, what a lovely gent. And his sculptures are beautiful. I got to meet and speak with him in May of ‘24 when he came to a special evening OMSI event. Had lovely models on display in addition to prints of his 2D work.

And I can see in the old days Bushmiller poking fun at cars with a divided windshield, like “oh what’ll they think of next” type if thing.

I think that Avengers had this wonderful splash inside, and the term, Zugzwang frustrated little me for years. Despite what Roy Thomas wrote, it wasn’t a word you could easily “look up” in the pre-digital era. Wasn’t in our dictionary.

Look! AI and the lazy, thoughtless people who use it still doesn’t understand how a hand holds a pole.

Sewage

Utter sewage

Will block and hope more people will do so

I’m used to mushrooms in Frank Frazetta and Wm Stout pictures being “symbolic”, but wow!

Oh, that will be me again. I think it depends on who he was inking and like any artist, the period of his career. I’m pretty sure Kirby liked his inks. Yeah, some of his pen work broke up in the old print process, but I think he adapted. I don’t know enough about his pencilling work.

Also a good idea not to proclaim, loudly, to the world, that the people you are negotiating with are “kissing your ass”

I had a #Goya thing going on back then and did an homage to his “The 3rd of May”. The little dog at bottom was a reference to the Taco Bell spokesmodel at the time; a talking chihuahua. He must have ratted those guys out. “Goya, Oh Boya” was a slogan for the Goya food corp. 3/

A couple things on this. The reference I used on the jeep was a Tamiya model kit of a nazi Kübelwagen i built as a child (but left out the bullet holes I burned in with a hot awl because even little plastic nazis deserve fire)… Volkswagen started selling the real ones again calling them “Things” 2/

Petty tyrants, and regime changes. I did this Little Devil Chef in late ‘99 for DHP2K. Randy Stradley was my heroic editor on this for #DarkHorseComics 1/

More old spot illos that seem sadly evergreen
February 19, 2025 at 5:53 AM
This was an illo I did for another Douglas Rushkoff article. I think it was about how creativity and freedom of thought and expression will still flourish despite tyranny. But I’m now thinking that was pretty “pre-2016 American” naiveté. No offense.
