A recent referendum in Ecuador, where voters overwhelmingly chose to end oil in Yasunì National Park --at the cost of billions (to oil companies)-- shows that democratic processes along with strong grassroots organizing can produce startlingly effective results.

After reading Because Internet by @gretchenmcc.bsky.social everything that Musk's doing to Twitter hurts even more. All those old posts are being lost. I know a lot of people say it to be hyperbolic and as a meme, but it really kind of is like losing the Library of Alexandria.
