And this is the problem: Too many people think that the vote for president is the only vote that matters.
I worked in a state legislature for more than two years. Immense amounts of power laying around, but people think the president is a god.
I’m 43 and my vote for president has been utterly meaningless my entire adult life. This has been true for the majority of americans. If you want to have an engaged democracy - which I assume Tom does - making every citizen have a say in the presidency would be a massive step forward on that front
The issue isn't who gets representation, it's that once you start unwinding federalism, why stop at presidential elections? Why bother having "states" at all other than as national administrative boundaries?
And why keep the Senate at all? Why not just a giant House, proportionally elected?

This is do-able and would fix a LOT of problems. Far more realistic than trying to cover the Constitution in wite-out
Easiest fix: expand the House. Then the # of electoral votes for each state would be more in proportion with their population.

Got it.
Larry Summers tells @theharvardcrimson.bsky.social
he’s stepping back from all public commitments in light of his messages with Epstein, saying he is “deeply ashamed” and hopes “to rebuild trust and repair relationships.”

He will continue teaching.

One significant way to fix the federal deficit? Dramatically raise the minimum wage across our country. It will cause an increase in tax collections, much less people on federal assistance, and health outcomes will improve causing less reliance on federal health programs.

I am even more incandescently furious about this heinous take by Megyn Kelly stack ranking levels of child sexual abuse. Take note: when a young person under 18 wants to begin transitioning with help of their doctor and parent, she loudly proclaims them children and attacks.
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

It’s been a year to the day we bought (and then didn’t, for reasons we still don’t fully know) InfoWars. We’re still trying. In the year since, we built The Onion into one of the biggest newspapers in the United States. I’m so proud of this place. I’m proud we do hard stuff. Thank you for caring.

At the same time the NY Times was hyping Hillary Clinton's emails, it had a reporter with emails from Jeffrey Epstein that were highly damaging to Trump.

The more NYT apologists try to minimize this the clearer it becomes that they don't understand why much of the public doesn't trust legacy media.

"The reason why this is of concern, is—he's the president of the United States, he's been found in another case by a civil jury to have been liable for sexually abusing a woman in a department store, he's a convicted felon, and he's had dozens of women accuse him of sexual abuse."

Many parallels here with Coughlin. Highly recommend @maddow.msnbc.com pod Ultra and also her boom Prequel on this.
The Father Coughlin story is interesting because of parallels to the modern era. Wildly popular charismatic figure (30M listeners at peak when US had ~120M ppl). Private broadcasters tried to fact-check, pre-clear speeches, ban him while fans protested the censorship. FDR tried to stay out of it.
There’s no daylight between what Candace says here about “the Jews” & what Nazi propagandists & Father Coughlin said about the Jews in the 1930s. Her show is one of the top 5 “conservative” podcasts in the US. She has 5.5 million subscribers on YouTube and 7.3 million followers on X.

Mamdani embodies a pro-Palestinian politics that truly distinguishes between the state of Israel and the Jewish people, and truly takes antisemitism seriously as its own problem. That makes him a threat to those who want to absolutely conflate antisemitism and anti-Zionism, whether the ADL or WoL.
The pro-Palestine group Within Our Lifetime has already decided that Zohran Mamdani has sold out the pro-Palestine cause... by condemning swastikas drawn on a Jewish day school in Brooklyn. forward.com/culture/7822...

Also, when engaging in resistance using a sandwich, do not take any bites from it first, because DNA. And remember that your condiments can be used against you in a court of law.
Remember, folks, it is a CRIME to draw with sidewalk chalk on the streets and sidewalks of Washington DC so when you do it be sure to invoke your Fifth Amendment right to remain silent if asked about it. #ChalkCrime
