Fair play to her for this. Out the other day and a cyclist shouted out at me and a friend for crossing the road when the traffic lights were red.
Good on her. I cycle to work in the City and not sure which of my routes feels sketchier: riding through Bank junction, or crossing Upper Thames at the top of Southwark Bridge. Both are lousy with people who barely know how to handle a bike shooting through reds giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...

I'm reminded of Garforth train station which only got step free access in mid 2024 after probably decades of campaigning from various MPs and others.

At least there the bridge being of historical significance was part of the reason.
Northwich disabled commuters 'excluded by design' at station
An MP describes a lack of step-free access at a well-used station as “exclusion by design”.

Shout out to the guy on the bus looking at Instagram on their phone with the volume so high I can hear it over the music in my earphones.

Ordered a new phone because my current one is being erratic. I look forward to the headache of dealing with that.

It's 2026 so that means the new calendar from Threnody in Velvet goes up.

Can't help but laugh at the Telegraph having a 'best board games to play in 2026' piece and recommending Monopoly as best competitive board game and Risk as best strategy board game. #boardgamesky

My friend did not have the best start to the New Year. After visiting someone's place they got stuck in a lift around 3am. Luckily their friend discovered their meter key also opens the lift.

I stumbled across a film called Savageland this evening. I'll get a review up on Letterboxd tomorrow. Meanwhile this from @sarahjomiles.bsky.social highlights why a film from 2015 you've probably never heard of is arguably one of the best horror films of recent years.
'Savageland' Offers Real-World Horrors | Certified Forgotten
Sarah Miles explains how 'Savageland' uses the faux documentary subgenre to craft a perfect political horror story for modern America.

Good job lads. We really do have an impressive talent for pissing money away on infrastructure projects in the most stupid ways. I'm reminded of the massive bridge that will never be used.

the thing is, “differing political views” used to be about what percentage to tax high earners and not whether brown people are humans

Everyone has a list of so-called "red flags" when they're dating. And for some, especially younger Americans, different political views is a relationship deal breaker.

Just seen someone stood on a e-scooter with headlights and a big speaker balanced on it. That's not a nasty accident waiting to happen at all.

Guardian not even mentioning artist Francisco Solan López in their bit on The Eternaut and saying it's based on a novel is really quite the spectacular fail. I mean, is it really that hard for people to spend 5 seconds googling something for an article? www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...

I remain convinced the cafe in the Corn Exchange is massively overrated and only popular due to its location. The coffee is crap and the food is overpriced and underwhelming.

I've done the thing where I saw a book I wanted on here but now can't remember the title/author. A big hardback history science book published this year that had something like mammoth skeleton on the cover. #booksky

Been playing Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Really liking the concept of late 17th century ghost hunters. There's a real atmosphere of desolation and misery in New Eden and the voice acting for Red and Antea is top notch.

One of the most incredible shots I've ever gotten, in Yellowstone. This coyote walked over a ridge in the blowing snow and posed for me, with a small grin on its face, the snowfalkes like stars in the background.

The desolation and beauty of life and nature is grounding, and so good for the soul.

An indicator of how cold it is, just got back from town and the beard oil I got for Christmas has apparently solidified in the bottle. 👍

Share a great female villain.

Linda Fiorentino as Bridget Gregory in The Last Seduction set the bar for femme fatale and nothing has matched it since.

Started watching Mr Mercedes on Netflix knowing nothing about it. Brendan Gleeson really is an underappreciated master of his craft.
