Science is a tough career. We are so over-trained in scepticism we end up constantly doubting ourselves. The worst part can be thinking you are alone in your self-doubt. By sharing our common experiences, we hope our new book helps those going through a career crisis:

Hidden struggles: Cambridge scientists share the truth behind their success
In a career defined by constant questioning, self-doubt can become an occupational hazard. Now, for the first time, a group of Cambridge scientists reveal the personal struggles they’ve faced – and co...

And it's out indeed! Huge congrats to @josanesousa.bsky.social, @gabrielalima19.bsky.social, @perezlouise.bsky.social & Hannah Schof! A true tour-de-force that highlights how emerging model systems can shed new light on long-standing macro-evolutionary questions. Go #axolotl, #polypterus #zebrafish!
It’s out! 🐟 We compared three regeneration superstars—axolotl, zebrafish, and Polypterus—to ask how animals regrow limbs and fins. We find shared core processes, and other programs fine-tuned by evolution in surprising, lineage-specific ways. tinyurl.com/mpftkn7y

1/ Can #Axolotls teach us new things about #HeartRegeneration?

A great collaboration between Elly Tanaka and Miguel Torres labs.

We’re happy to share our new work in which we ask how axolotls regenerate their hearts and could they help mammals with that?

A bit late but a paper from our lab has been published!
Human fingertip regeneration is a fact, it happens in children and adults (not only in children as it has been long believed). We describe here the regenerative phases and analyse the proteome of wound exudates.

New paper from our lab and @friedrich-group.bsky.social !! Insights into morphogen gradient scaling to regenerate a limb at the appropriate size. #axolotl, #limbregeneration
Axolotl can regrow lost limbs, matching their body size. How? Our new theory-experiment paper in @pnas.org proposes how oppositely oriented morphogen gradients scaling with animal size promote proportional growth. Great collaboration with @tatianasg.bsky.social @cmcb-tud.bsky.social
