Both genre writing and wider nerd spaces have a perennial fixation on lore, worldbuilding, and "good ideas" that detracts from what actually matters, which is good writing, good prose, good execution. Those are the things that make good books good

When somebody playing 2 years after me remembers a completely different game and we cannot communicate because we did not have a shared experience. There's no longer incentive to dive deeply into mechanical and numerical systems both due to complexity and the fact they're no longer solvable.
