One of the few benefits of being an immigration lawyer on the cusp of 2025 is that we don’t have to wonder “what can I do to help” … the mission is abundantly, painfully, tragically clear and immediate.
I've been an immigration attorney for just over 2 years, and I know I'm about to experience the whiplash of regime change. But I walked into this with open eyes -- in 2017 I saw all the attorneys at the airports, and knew I wanted to be on that team. So here I am, able to help.

I hate that I have to now advise my international church members to be very careful to obey all minor traffic laws meticulously, and don't post anything on social media. It used to be that I could tell them to just not commit crimes or hurt people.

Book bans impact public libraries & bookstores, but it’s school libraries where they are rampant ❤️🩹
Many kids are unable to make it to the public library. They can’t drive, often times the library isn’t in walking distance. It’s not that their grown-ups don’t want them to be library kids.

Here's the one thing that I wish everyone knew about "raids" in one post:
We may be heading into a future in which ICE randomly sweeps immigrant neighborhoods & pulls people out of their homes. But they've never done that before, & they will need a massive new commitment of resources to do it now

Only took me two years to get these framed, but now I am owning the achievement officially on my wall. (Children's artwork courtesy of some of my clients' offspring, bcz of COURSE my office has a coloring station.) I love being an immigration attorney. It's such a privilege.
