Expert r/neoliberal poster. Rational compassion fan. Hard work enjoyer and productivity-pilled. I invented the term "sanewashing". Take the nice-pill.
This is the most healing thing that has ever been posted. Reading this is like a weight evaporated out of my body.

There are a lot of people who can't actually think. They just have 5-10 set responses and Current Thing gets mashed into one of those 5-10 set responses, no matter what it is.

e.g. "Abolition"

can't stress enough how misleading this is to the zoomers. mainstream culture treated gay people like circus freaks, acceptable as entertainment but not in normal life. 'it's gay' was a synonym for 'it sucks' well into the 2000s
As a fellow Gen Xer it also makes me fume when other Gen Xers complain about "the LGBT agenda". Like, my dude, we grew up with Culture Club in heavy rotation on MTV.

This is my thing too!
Good points here from @schatz.bsky.social about how these little language questions aren’t *just* about language — they are signals as to whether you think for yourself or outsource everything.

I had followed a blocklist of Kiwi posters, and discovered it had actually changed to become a list of only three people, and one of them was Jesse Singal.

Holy based and correct post.
I would argue that there is a pattern of simply attributing to me positions I've never taken, and pretending I've written things I haven't written, and that people use these made-up opinions and arguments to justify behavior they'd be outraged about if the target was seen as friend rather than foe
@jessesingal.com

Jesse Singal: "Waaaah Bluesky users are sending me death threats and are making me scared. 😭😭😭"

Also Jesse Singal: "Read my latest story on how trans people should be eradicated."

The taste of your own medicine is bitter, isn't it?

I’ve never found any of these articles persuasive for why police unions “aren’t unions” or cops “aren’t workers”, it’s always people tying themselves in convoluted knots with grad-school jargon to avoid saying that unions are not always good, & that some groups of workers having power is bad.

Because they have the power to offer a compromise and trans people don't. It's not about fairness. You can't apply the logic of fairness to it. It's just about power. They have the power to offer something. We have nothing they want, that we're willing to give. Come on, jesus.

Trans people who don't do this all the time in real life will get absolutely fucked. Sometimes even just getting along with people means playing off "Yes I'm trans it's weird right" with a joke and making it clear you're not gonna get offended about shit, regardless of your feelings.
December 19, 2024 at 11:11 PM
It has exactly 0 to do with this and the logic doesn't even make sense. It actually has far more to do with posts like this than it does with "liberals not fighting back". It's the manner of fighting back supported by trans leftists that's given the right the leverage they need.

This is logically true, and realizing why it never ever happens or ever will was a really important thing for me. It's because people only really do things they think are good if there's social proof saying they should find it good, otherwise they do nothing.
Man the thing about Ko-Fi and Patreon and stuff is like, for the price of a gacha pull per month, you can be part of the reason why someone you believe in gets to pursue what they actually want to do.

Through the power of many you can help ppl you like chase their dreams for a gacha pull per month.

It is insane how much "the trans community" is a fake concept and I feel no connection to it. A bunch of people who Post Online but don't know each other is a community? Maybe it's because I've never made the mistake of getting involved with people who were too mentally ill and sniffed it out.

I'm a trans lesbian and my feed is nothing like this because I don't make social media a place to develop and reinforce an anxiety disorder - which is something it's really good at if you let it. A social media feed like this is not just useless to you, it's a threat.
cis folks on here should have their feeds replaced by a trans person’s for a day. they’d see the fear, the anguish, the hopelessness of a community that is tired, broke, starving, and desperate for a shred of human decency in a world that wants to end us.

This is a platform that actually cares about free speech. This is what it looks like.
Our growing moderation team needs clear evidence and well-defined rules to make decisions that can be consistently enforced, so they action accounts based primarily on content and behavior that appears in our app, where the context and authenticity can be directly verified.

I *KNOW* this Youtube Man didn't just step into the Nikki Lore like "Finally a NON WOKE series because it includes FEMININITY" like Nikki isn't canonically a lesbian and the mayor of Cloud City isn't canonically trans.

If BlueSky wants to prioritize marginalized users, I, a trans lesbian (very marginalized) require BlueSky to ban everyone who makes guillotine jokes because they make me feel unsafe as A Marginalized User. If you don't do this you don't care about Marginalized People. Fix it @bsky.app

The Good Place was literally about this kind of moral logic and showing it was absurd. They made an entire show about it. Several seasons!

I actually work in health insurance, just not in America. But man, you really, really, really learn to rethink your positive opinion of doctors and other providers to the point of eventually just hating them and their thinly disguised cartel conduct.
December 10, 2024 at 3:16 PM
Is anyone threatening the regular employees of health insurance companies though? I mean if they are that's next level deranged, but John Claims Assessor isn't the one people would be celebrating the deaths of.
Requiring your employees to denounce violence against executives — and only executives — while calling it a “Solidarity Pledge” is some I don’t even know fuckin what
Lmao they're so scared, this is deranged

But there are tons of bigots of all stripes who don't fit the Standard Model of Bigot Logic. Way more importantly though is when two Marginalized Identities clash and try to make a greater claim to More Marginalizedhood - see Palestinian Activists vs Israel Posters.
With regards to content moderation, by protecting the most vulnerable you protect everyone, and if you carve out exceptions for one form bigotry or prejudice, that's a weakness that will be immediately exploited by malicious actors.

Because the truth is, there are no single issue bigots.

What does "prioritize marginalized users" mean? BlueSky already has pretty effective moderation against hate speech and targeting and all kinds of ways for users to make it even better. There's room for improvement sure, but that's true of everywhere. What does this mean?
BlueSky is trying to monetize so let's show them some numbers:

Reskeet this if you refuse to pay for BlueSky+ until trust & safety decides to prioritize marginalized users.

That's $96 / year of lost revenue for each reskeet...

maybe controversial, but we should just keep calling them tweets on BlueSky. It'd probably make Elon very mad.
Guys we can’t actually call them skeets. There has to be a better option.

I think I need to finally take the plunge and learn about the Homophile movement and the GLF and how Gay Marriage happened because I've read a lot of Takes but that doesn't mean I know a lot of Facts.
