New pre-print from @phar.cam.ac.uk & Bellefroid lab at ULB! Led by @mayadannawi.bsky.social w support from @interlukein.bsky.social & more! We investigate impact of overexpressing the zinc finger transcriptional regulator Prdm12 on sensory neuron function / joint pain. #neuroskyence #PainResearch
AAV-mediated overexpression of Prdm12 in knee-innervating afferents reduces inflammatory joint pain and neuronal hyperexcitability in mice
Inflammatory joint pain features in numerous musculoskeletal disorders that affect millions globally. The Prdm12 gene encodes a conserved zinc finger transcriptional regulator expressed selectively in...

Great summary of our latest work - a real Team Science effort! 👥 🐭
#New in #OAC ! The sphingolipid sphingomyelin 34:1 is upregulated in the synovial fluid of those with OA. Work from @phar.cam.ac.uk shows that SM34:1 causes inflammatory pain in mice, inducing neuronal hyperexcitability.

I am currently curating a Special Issue for MDPI Cells
on “Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Inflammatory Pain.”

If you are working on, or planning a suitable manuscript, I would be delighted if you would consider submitting it to our issue.

A new academic year! 🍏

Proud to watch my Pegasus Scholars students presenting on targeted cancer therapies today, after a week exploring the formation, functions, faults and fixing of proteins! 🔬

Glad to support Robinson College’s excellent widening participation initiation for another year! 👨‍🏫

If you have #osteoarthritis, please see below 👇 - I’m running a 2 minute survey and would love your input 😇
👋I’m developing a proposal to investigate how pain changes with progression of osteoarthritis (OA). 🦴⚡️

If you have OA, I’d love to hear how your experience with pain has changed over time - please consider answering this quick 10-question survey! 🙏

📣 Calling fellow ECRs studying the contributions of GPCRs to pain and/or analgesia!

🧠 Interested in presenting at #SfN25 in San Diego in November?

🙏 Please drop me a message - looking for last few speakers for a mini symposium proposal!

Riding the year out on a high ✨ - latest paper out now in @pnas.org! ☺️ 🙏

Here we describe a role for the proton-sensing GPCR, GPR65 in mediating joint pain from fibroblast-like synoviocytes!

Excellent walk-through of our latest work, looking at lipids and inflammatory joint pain 👇
Pain = main driver of clinical decision making in osteoarthritis (OA). Our lab studies OA pain mechanisms.

During OA, multiple cell-cell interactions occur, many mediators being released that alter the contents of the synovial fluid.

👋 Hello, I'm new here...
...followed the herd to a greener field! 🐏 🦋

I'm a postdoc interested in the mechanisms driving inflammatory pain, with the aim of identifying new points of intervention, for the development of better medicines! #PainResearch #FirstPost
