I'm working on a 14 (!) pages story for an anthology and it took me a lot to come up with a flow for the story
I wasn't satisfied with how I was telling it, so I printed the sketched pages and made a mini prototype so I could move pages around and add little post its with notes

Yes! I once did a workshop on this topic with an artist who was also a psychologist and did a lot of studies on creativity
Developing creativity has a lot more to do with actually doing things that inspire you (sometimes even things that are not art related) than finding random sparks of genius
