We're seeing lots of headlines about the catastrophic impact of massive data center expansion. But what else could data centers look like?

In my perpetual quest to seek out alternative technofutures, I want to highlight the really cool work of Keolu Fox.

Just fuck off with this. How about start the conversation by highlighting how much immigrants contribute to the UK - not least by propping up the NHS and social care system!

Also - forced volunteering is not volunteering, it's unpaid labour.

Why was there a Kindertransport?

Because we wouldn't let their parents come with them.

Five years into the Nazi persecution, we wouldn't let their parents come with them. And we insisted every child had someone to meet their "costs". And we only agreed on condition most would "re-emigrate".
Unfortunately, and as I write about in my current book... British society in the 1930s... and even after the start of the war... influenced by newspapers like the Daily Mail was just as hostile to Jewish German and other refugees of Naziism as their modern descendants are to 'asylum seekers' today.
I want to say to the “nice people” who succumb to the boats and women’s toilets propaganda, to pretend it’s the 30s and it’s escaping Jewish people from Europe or Black people in the Deep South they are being asked to despise.

Every rich person is going to tell *you* how great AI teaching is while sending *their* kids to the kind of schooling the Ancient Greeks would recognize. I just wish everyone would think about why that is.
I think we’re on the cusp of mass attempts to automate teaching, and I also think it is going to be a massive wasteful failure in ways that will make the “learning loss” of the pandemic look like a speed bump next to a mountain.

America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons.
