Hi Bookheads, John here. Due to an unexpected personal loss, this week’s episode on Melville’s “The Confidence Man” is going to be late. Ben and I are figuring out the schedule for this ep and the rest of this season, and we’ll share more as soon as we’re able. Semper Books!

Enjoyable to see Chabon finally nail his Great American novel after the "shipwrecked" Fountain City. The whole thing is chock full of bravura paragraphs. Also this is perhaps our most riff filled episode to date lol.

We had a blast talking about “The Amazing Adeventures of Kavalier and Clay” with @cacomixpod.bsky.social
Enjoy what is our longest (and in my opinion, funniest) episode to date!
Part 2 will be out next week, Book Heads!

Let's go a step further and follow Alexander Manshel, Laura B. McGrath, and J. D. Porter in characterizing the audiobook as a work not just of audio performance but of intensive, multifaceted, and largely unremunerated literary criticism.
