The worst you can accuse Panorama of doing is making a misleading edit – and I’d dispute that! – to make *a point that was true*.

The programme aired without anyone seeing any issues with the edit. It was on iPlayer for a year without complaints. Donald Trump *did* incite Jan 6th.
Tory culture spox demanding the BBC "grovel" to Trump is baffling. Who is this supposed to chime with?

Just a bizarre line that no one who doesn't use X would ever think.

A brilliant example of what Lewis Goodall talks about when he argues why right-wing radicals keep winning. They don't play by the rules and simply don't care. Whereas the institutions they want to destroy do even when said rules are contorted to absurdity and are blatantly being used against them.
The founder of Newsmax was just on the Today programme pontificating about bias. Boy, the BBC loves to submit itself to flagellation.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Sky News just had Kelvin Mackenzie on, former editor of The Sun, one of the people at the centre of probably the most disgraceful front page in newspaper history, complaining about BBC journalists not being objective and 'fake news'. Astonishing. ~AA

See also the prison service, universities, local government, and the rest.

And the response of this government?

No - not to fund and run them better and prepare the ground for success.

But to join the baying mob. 2/2

The BBC is the latest part of ‘the public realm’ to feel the wrath of the right.

The playbook is wearyingly similar.

Underfund them. Hold them (piously) to the highest standards. Pillory them for all errors. And then co-opt, or neuter, them. 1/2

Saw Mac DeMarco last night (Lou's birthday). He was most excellent but what wasn't most excellent was 70% of the audience holding their phones above their heads recording the entire thing. Fucking eejits.

What I find baffling is that consecutive governments have forefronted an issue that they know they can never "solve" and can only ever lose their grip on, inevitably ceding the narrative to far-right anti-immigration politicians, and never tried to either change that narrative or that focus.
This is what they’ll tell themselves alright, because it’ll be more convenient than admitting that they’ve fucked it by relentlessly attacking their own supporters until there’s nobody left who likes them or wants what they’re selling.

It's wild because you could make a plausible argument that Musk adds negative value to Tesla. Their consumer car business could be a long-term success if they detached their brand from his. And any rational future Dem president would cancel his security clearance.

I think democrats should push for a thorough review of all Elon Musk govt contracts as part of their 2026-8 portfolio. Why are taxpayers financing the work of a racist near-trillionaire? Leaving that unexamined was one of the biggest failures of the last Dem majority.
