What if I change my name to Micycle, long for Mike obvs; what if I just try being a Micycle next year. I feel like I could talk myself into this by Dec 31.

Toronto is so funny because city councillors will say “save my beloved local parking lot!!” and then city councillors will make up images of people looking happy in the parking lot to stop density in their ward, and that guy will get re-elected for 12 more terms. This has happened twice in 5 years!

Got new glasses and Adam says I look like David Cronenberg,
a man wearing glasses says the more glorious the better
Alt: David Cronenberg, acting, wearing dark glasses, says “the more glorious the better”

A friend recently said “peace by any means necessary” though referring to taking antidepressants and anti anxiety meds; and I agree, in any time and especially in this time. Peace by any means necessary, keep that brain away from despair.

I think a lot about that professor with a poster of Rasputin and a beard down to his knees

I am furious, my bedtime is in SHAMBLES; at least one Dodger motored through that other guy, at least we have that

I hope it’s another walk, that would be great

We’re watching some American feed because SportsNet is too unreliable and I’m just furious during this emotionally fraught time. I do not care about baseball, I care about the Dodgers losing!!!!

Omg who else just had their sportsnet app crash

Instead of the Tylenol 3s prescription I’m normally given after surgery, I ended up with hydromorphone. A total shockeroo which seems fairly excessive for the situation, plus I’m already autistic so I’m okay with acetaminophen

I would have quit every single job in Slow Horses within 45 minutes of starting, I am sure of that much. The worst coworkers, shit working conditions, obviously I don’t care about England especially not to risk my life for it.

Toronto upped funding for libraries and I’m super emotional about this! A rare feeling of civic pride!
Social Infrastructure at its best

“Good news, Toronto! 🎉

Starting October 19, all 100 library branches will be open year-round on Sundays from 12-5 pm (except on holiday weekends).

Taking care of my friend’s asthmatic cat (Cat) while he’s gone, even though S knew I was going camping for the first three days; literally panicked about the cat the whole time. Cat cat is fine! Cats do not need us but they need our hands to give them inhalers and ear scratches periodically!!

I gave my best dresses to my friend Emily and we are both thrilled

The middle class isn’t a tax bracket; the middle class is term used to divide the working class. Moreover, middle income tax cuts were a cover to reduce government spending (Canada Post, VIA, underfunding and forcing across the board Department cuts); these impacts > the individual tax gains
3 months ago today, Canada’s new government cut taxes for the middle class.

With our tax-cut, 22 million Canadians have been keeping more of their hard-earned paycheques.

Brutal truth attack from Adam who said that clean indoor tap water would have been my ancestors’ dream and here I am drinking coconut water. We need to aim beyond our ancestors’ dreams!!!

I like my name and I’ve had it for as long as I can remember and I don’t have any nicknames and the idea of changing my name, no matter how incongruous it gets over time, feels offputting. Plus, I’m grateful I didn’t change my name in my 20s because then I would be named Bowie or Tzvi, no question

At the first part of my autism assessment two weeks ago, the assessor asked me something and I answered sincerely and she responded with “oh that was a joke”, so I told her that I hate jokes. I now suspect this was the actual test and it was not totally surprising to get the diagnosis this morning

Shout out to my doctor who said the government requires her to say I have a diagnosis of gender dysphoria to access affirming care but she doesn’t believe that there is anything medically wrong with me, so she’s saying it because that’s the wording on the form but don’t pathologise wanting to live

Chrystia Freeland participating in the standing ovation is so on brand for her; I guess it tracks for the other Liberals too but memorializing a dead Nazi is a little less surprising from some people
Given the extreme nature of many of Charlie Kirk’s comments, the simple act of rising for a standing ovation in response to his death has taken on significance.
