If you’ve seen me at a show, you know this smile: Sweaty, fogged up glasses, hair all messed up. This is me at my happiest.
This thread has more eloquent, well reasoned responses than I can put together. Well said.
The fact they chose California as the flash point is also an indicator that they don't think these things through

LA has like 4M+ people. Sending every single ICE officer is ~20K, LAPD is 9K, LASD is 10K. Going in at 100:1 manpower – leaving zero bodies for literally anything else – is foolish

Not enough personnel to do martial law

The secret of American law enforcement is that most people voluntarily follow most laws most of the time

If that changes for a significant %, things get overstretched very fast

Ah yes, the light I want to see in the world.
Three yachts were swallowed by fires early Friday after witnesses described a massive explosion in northwest Miami-Dade.

This is what I’m up to right now!
I’m currently working with an amazing group to help Doylestown, PA build a public skatepark.
Skateboarding is 100% illegal in this town. That’s wild to me in 2025.

The only access skaters have is through the Y where a day pass is $10.00. We all know that’s not feasible for a lot of people.

I miss Valentine’s Day parties in elementary school.
I adored addressing those little cards. I made sure everyone got their favorite kind of candy. It was an organizational dream.
My theme was usually anatomically accurate hearts with arrows in them.

My whole schtick started early.

Toe beans for Caturday. We all need a reason to smile, so here’s one of mine.

Heads up! Superbowl Sunday is one of the most dangerous days for victims of domestic violence.

If you suspect someone you know is at risk, this is a good time to check in.
Maybe even suggest a “Football Free” day if your friend needs a safe harbor.

I always planned on being a starving artist.
Raised by a painter and a pianist, it was a realistic ambition.

At 7 years old, I had a clear vision of my future: making live music in New York, living in a cute little trailer in New Jersey (blue) that I could sorta afford. A dog. No kids.

Just thinking about my former next door neighbor who was a super bigot. She was always being creepy about the children of color who lived with me.
Anyway, when white nationalists shot up my house, hers got hit too.
Seems relevant, but what do I know?

What am I going to wake up and fixate on today? (Spins wheel)
The teacher I had in briefly in ninth grade who didn’t like me!
I win the toaster!

It might not be better, but it will at least be shorter.
I want to say February is going to be better but no

Had lunch with a friend I have known and loved for about sixteen years.
We talked about grants, funding, arts, family, all the weirdness of right now. It felt for a few hours like things might be okay because there are other people out there who understand and care.

Why do I always have roller-skates on in my dreams?

I live next door to a small child who likes to scream her head off every night at about 7:00 (bedtime, I assume).
Same, girl. Same.

I actually should not be at the club. I'm 32, monogamously married, and my liver doesn't work. No one wants me at the club anymore and I like it that way.

A small silver lining with things being so overwhelmingly bleak and terrifying is that any small moment of joy miraculous .

My partner brought home a bunch of chocolate today because I’m feeling real, real shitty. It was better than any other gift I could have received.

No, but crying does give me “take me to the ER RIGHT NOW” level migraines. This has certainly had no effect on my emotional development whatsoever.
Does crying make your sinuses hurt for, like, sometimes days after?

When I started my first grassroots organization at eight years old (handmade flyers and all) to advocate for more nutritious meals at public schools, I never imagined it would become my life’s work.

I hope the new trend is identifying the difference between news and entertainment.

Weather, sports, and most crime stories require very little journalistic effort and therefore don’t get paid much.
Inflammatory opinion pieces get passed off as news.

An uninformed public is easily manipulated.

Hello friend, take fifteen seconds to look away from this screen. Look at something far away, something in the middle distance, and something close to you.
If you wear glasses, take a second to clean them.
You will feel a little better. Like magic.

I love you.
