Oh man. I’m watching someone’s presentation and identifying all the things he’s doing that I am self conscious about when presenting.

I don’t know how many other people are noticing so I guess that’s good.

This eye surgery is amazing.

You’re telling me you’ve just been seeing this clearly forever?

While it’s not perfect by any means and I will still be wearing glasses for the foreseeable future, I haven’t seen this clearly in decades maybe.

This episode of The Pitt with a schizophrenic student in the library is hitting a little close to home.

We had a similar situation at my last job. Thankfully tasing was not necessary. But it educated me on how often the onset of symptoms happens when they are college age.

This is clearly AI.

The coffee one is supposed to be thanks a latte. 😂

But I cannot figure out the apple one. Anyone got ideas?

For the first time in my life, I was told I have 20/20 vision. Wild times.

I was also called their pediatric patient because everyone else at the facility was a good 15+ years older than me.

Did you know that Super Bowl Shuffle was nominated for a Grammy?

Yknow how you know I’m from around Chicago? I still own that tape.
They were also nominated for a Grammy, but lost to Prince – better luck next time.

Out at dinner tonight, the server asked if we had big plans for the weekend and I apparently said too enthusiastically “no” because she responded with “look at how your eyes lit up when you said that!” 😀

I get excited to enjoy my mortgage apparently.

Amongst all my other woes, I was diagnosed with EBMD today.

I only remembered the name because it was close to Erick and Parrish Making Dollars.

H/T to my husband for bringing up EPMD very early on in our dating.

Also I’m fine. It’s minor. Humor is my coping mechanism.

The CIA just stopped publishing their World Factbook and took every page, including the archived copies of previous versions!

This sucks. It was public domain, so I recovered the 2020 edition (the last one published as a zip file) and shared it to GitHub simonwillison.net/2026/Feb/5/t...
Spotlighting The World Factbook as We Bid a Fond Farewell
Somewhat devastating news today from the CIA: One of CIA’s oldest and most recognizable intelligence publications, The World Factbook, has sunset. There's not even a hint as to why they …

Currently dealing with vision problems and seeing a specialist about it.

They’ve asked questions about Medicare and whether I’m retired.

I overheard another patient say her birth year was in the 1930s.

This place is not making me feel any younger, honestly.

From the accessibility front, I’ve learned I never ever want to make a table.

I don’t want to remediate PDFs with tables in them even less.

When you ask a question about how to do it and all answers are don’t or export from the original, they tell me they do not understand ILL at all.

What does it say about me that my previous career and my current career are targets by this administration?

Information is power. Knowledge is power.

Currently reading Sinclair Lewis’s “It Can’t Happen Here” because real life isn’t scary enough apparently.

Whoever keeps making
clips of Heated Rivalry and adding Schmidt and Nick from New Girl should know they are what is keeping me sane lately.

I’ve hit the part of winter where I hate everything. Existing when it’s dark and cold and miserable is hard. I’m gonna take these micro joyful moments.

I put in “my name is pronounced like X” as my preferred name in hopes of medical people getting it right. I didn’t realize what a laugh this was going to be for me but it also brought giggles from the receptionist at my docs office this morning.

The house is set to 68 but the thermometer in our living room is reading 63.

And I wonder why I’m freezing all the time.

We got like 10 inches of snow yesterday and now this.

Rude.

With this crazy weather, I gave my staff the option to work from home. Being safe is more important than being in the building.

Campus declared a 2 hour delay after I sent that notice. They’ve all said they were aiming to be in.
