Bought myself To Rise in the Dark by Nick J. Brown. His almost daily Vic & Bob pics on here bring me such a warm glow, I already feel endeared to his work. But this seems right up my street and if my delivery is on track, I will be reading this weekend. @northernmailman.bsky.social

‘At the Opera House that evening was H.M.S Pinochet, the high-kicking tale of a shopkeeper's daughter who dreams of one day peddling arms to Latin American dictatorships.’

Hunter by Nick J. Brown. Link to buy in pinned post.
Another very enjoyable read courtesy of @northernmailman.bsky.social but I’ve been trying to track down somewhere where I can see a performance of ‘HMS Pinochet’ and I have to say, it’s a bit like he’s just making stuff up…

‘Apparently the next great ecological disaster is overhyped celebrity novels. It’s true. They found a dead whale on the Southeast coast and when they cut it open there were 17 Richard Osman books inside. Charity shops won’t take them anymore so people are just pitching them into the sea.’

Latest read.
I’m a bit behind everyone else but the latest from our pal @northernmailman.bsky.social is another entertaining tour of the less salubrious parts of Manchester and Salford. Perfect for exiled Mancs.
When are we getting the trilogy Nick?
