But like. It starts getting ridiculous around episode 2 and the more the series leans into that, the more thoroughly enjoyable it gets. Also did I mention it's gay? And that Dori, who is surprisingly not gay, manages to carry so much weight by being so, so, so endearingly chuuni?

I need you guys to know. Episode 1 is not good. If you were to watch episode 1 and quit there, I really would not blame you, it's not good and it always feels bad to have to put up with a series "until it gets good." I don't think Bet ever really gets objectively "good" in terms of quality,

The best way I can describe it at its best is lovingly written AU fanfiction and all the best ways? Also it's gay. Like. I think we were all afraid it would get sanitized in the move to appeal to a western live action audience but it actually got more gay, somehow.

The first few episodes are... Kind of boring to be honest, which is a damn shame bc like the original, this series is at its best when it is being downright ridiculous and not taken seriously at all.
