At some point #BirdFlu will crack the 1-step evolutionary obstacle to becoming an airborne human virus & potentially the next pandemic. Or recombine with a human virus in farmed pigs or in a human host & achieve the same outcome. Upgrading indoor air quality standards would be a sensible precaution.
UKHSA has confirmed a case of influenza A(H5N1) in a person in the West Midlands. The person acquired the infection on a farm, where they had close and prolonged contact with a large number of infected birds.
