I don't frequent Starbucks most of the year, but do stop in to get peppermint hot chocolate several times a week during the holiday season. It hasn't been hard to forego my beverages to support these folks.

Even if your store isn't unionized, it is a nationwide strike. There are other coffee shops.
Day THIRTY-NINE of our national ULP strike - and baristas are fired up, united, and taking action.

Our demands are clear: Starbucks needs to stop union busting and finalize a contract with the pay, hours, and protections we need to succeed. #NoContractNoCoffee

At first glance, a general strike sounds impossible—but a strategic look back at the coordinated strikes and militancy of the past two decades shows we might be much closer than we think, writes @alexhan.bsky.social, executive director of @inthesetimes.com labornotes.org/2025/12/mayb... 1/2

Check out this wonderful piece written by ILC Chicago member Amy Abeln for The Brooklyn Rail!

"A sign on a wall reads: Love Is Public Safety. The phrase sounds sentimental until you see the data. In neighborhoods where aid groups deliver daily, detentions drop."

No matter. We'll be waiting right out front when you're ready to talk, Brian!

Starbucks workers are kicking off a super ambitious, and EXTREMELY IMPORTANT nation wide strike this Thursday. The success of this highly visible strike, in this political moment, is likely to determine whether other workers have the confidence to organize and strike in their own workplaces.

BREAKING: After months of stonewalling by Starbucks, unionized baristas just voted 92% to authorize a ULP strike unless Starbucks finalizes fair contracts & stops union busting.

If forced, our baristas will strike in dozens of cities on November 13 – the company's busiest sales day of the year.
