jacinda ardern's 'a different kind of power' is as special as she is. it's one human putting to paper their experiences with all their doubts, hopes and fears. no fuss, no fancies. nothing between her and her reader.

16 days later, i’ve finally finished ‘nexus’ by yuval noah harari. my verdict though: a definite meh…! not bad - just a bit much. a powerful and urgent message buried under too many words.

even though 'don't be evil' was published in 2020, it still feels eerily relevant. the core issues remain unresolved, which means that @ranaforoohar.bsky.social's arguments are as valid today as they were 5 years ago.

don't be evil | book reviews on idealistatheart.com
don’t be evil by rana foroohar is basically a rallying cry for regulating big tech. even though it was published in 2020, but it still feels eerily relevant.

Yarn and books : both are things that I just couldn't do without in my life! And the best part about it is when you meet your knitting and reading soulmates and share the same values.

Thank you @idealistatheart.bsky.social for another great reading tip!

continuing with the theme of technology reads, this feels like a decent follow-up to supremacy. another one that’s remained unread on my shelves for way too long.

'supremacy' by parmy olson is well-researched, relevant, and surprisingly breathless for a #nonfiction book.
the writing in the later chapters mirrored the fast pace of AI development, which i guess was the point. it felt like i inhaled them.

idealistic, but ultimately lofty goals are the primary motivations behind recent advancements in AI according to ‘supremacy’ by parmy olson.

welcome to my new favourite room! ✨📚

when you read as much as i do, a comfortable reading nook is everything & i can’t wait to tackle my TBR.

speaking of which, what book are you currently most excited about? and whom would you recommend it to?

wait… you organise your books by COLOUR?!
if there’s one comment i hear over and over, it’s this one.
like i can’t be a ‘serious’ nonfiction reader if i sort my books this way.
but to me books are fun, colours are fun, and using colour to sort books is a LOT of fun.

like every booklover anywhere, i own a lot of books & i have a book buying problem 🫣🫣

but, every great story begins with a blank page—or in this case, an empty shelf 📚✨

any guesses, as to where I’ll go from here?

the power of wynn-williams' #memoir 'careless people' about her time at facebook lies in its light, self-deprecating & funny tone. it reminds me of a quote from the art of war: all warfare is deception.
