We’ve looked at snails with one shell and slugs with no shells. Now let’s have a look at a snail with two shells, because Nature laughs at our puny attempts to pigeonhole.

New #megalodon paper! 🦈

This work further applies the new "slender" hypothesis to some of the shark's basic biology, including suggesting a lemon shark-like body.

Congrats to the authors! Will probs dedicate my 1st website blog to my thoughts on this paper: palaeo-electronica.org/content/2025... 🦈

So this little #SeaSlug is a type of sap sucker in the genus Costasiella. These are not technically #Nudibranch and belong in the super order of #Sacoglossa. They perform kleptoplasty where they steal chloroplasts from their Avrainvillea algae host and utilise them for photosynthesis

How often do you see an ichthyosaur fossil from this perspective? They are so frequently preserved flattened that it is easy to forget how massive they must have been. This specimen is at in the Evolutionsmuseet in Uppsala #Fossilfriday

Really interesting article! I had no idea there would be so little overlap in the species detected with each method 🐟
📑 #NewStudy by Burns et al. finds complementary results using two #fish community monitoring systems – BRUVS and #eDNA – in the Great Australian Bight. Both methods distinguished depth-dependent communities.

Snailfishes in the Careproctus genus lay their eggs in a place which is well-protected and well-aerated - in the gill cavities of king crabs. 🦀
These crabs essentially become mobile incubators for snailfish eggs
