Pseudoacademic, int’l devt/gov escapee. Works on what hurts: governance, peace processes, displacement, land rights, memory and contestation. Pilipinas/SEA. PhD researcher, University of Cambridge.
Sharing a short discussion paper in this monograph released by UP CIDS on navigating multiple contesting land claims under a peace deal. Nothing new for communities confronting these painful questions for decades, but one of the many difficult conversations needed. Download: lnkd.in/gQu5yhqR

This brings me an irrational amount of comfort.
Amazing: MIT researchers revealed how ChatGPT etc are destroying our brains and booby-trapped the report to expose those who want to use AI to ostensibly summarize the results.

Belfast folks: will be at #BISA2025 at a panel sponsored by the Peacekeeping, Peacebuilding and Human Rights Working Group. Swing by on June 20 if you want to hear about customary land rights in peace process implementation and other geekeries.

There must be a word for the survivor’s guilt one feels when the material conditions of your research partners have not improved (and in fact a few barely survived physical and mental breakdowns) despite everything you’ve done and written together. And you’re still writing.

What do #journalists think of the international media freedom campaigns that aim to support them – like the #MediaFreedomCoalition - and how might their perspectives help us better understand the impacts of such initiatives?

An updated version of my usual planning and peacebuilding rant was published as a chapter of Vibal’s latest. Sharing late since it's 2025 and yet the social scientists and engineers still think that culture has no bearing on the built environment, + vv.
