Magician and Uber-geek. Tall Tales is on Kindle. Several other books for magicians on Lulu.
I watched House of Dynamite so you don't have to; it's just under two hours of well written, tense drama that completely slaps you in the face in the last minute, and not in a good way.

Big sigh. Watch this.

Can you see why the Yankees’ moment of silence, the lowered flags, the promise of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, feel like a gut punch to the very people he spent years targeting?

No one wished death on this man, but what we’re seeing right now is too f*cking much.

Tom Lehrer has left the building. I think @mitchbenn.bsky.social is prolly hit bad, but there's consolation in knowing that TL's legacy will be loooong and well remembered.

Apart from by Agnes, who is a bit under the weather.

Finally watched Children of Men. I imagine it was a tad bleak in 2007, but it's like watching a prediction in 2025...

Good film, though.

One of my favourite films, with a tangential personal connection. Enjoy.
ALIEN was released 46 years ago today. One of the definitive science fiction/horror movies, and among Ridley Scott’s best, the behind-the-scenes story is like the perfect organism…

Tomorrow MSPs vote on the first round Assisted Dying bill. The usual suspects have all said they will oppose the legislation.

My father died of AIDS in 1993; he said several times that he wanted to 'hit myself on the head, roll over, face the wall and go to sleep', but that was not to be...

So, apparently it's national haiku day, so here's a repost of Shakesku - the Complete Works of Shakespeare in seventeen syllables...

One amusing aspect of migrating here from Tw was using (like many others, I fear) a tool that matches the names of Tweeps to people here. As a result, I seem to be following a bunch of people with the same name as people I know, but nothing at all to do with shared interests. Oh well...

I know things are marked up, but 600%?

People have pointed out the Fleming book Moonraker, where the bad guy builds rockets and wants to take over the world because he's secretly a Nazi, but seem to have overlooked Goldfinger, which is about a megalomaniac who is obsessed with gold, cheats at golf, and is a Russian asset...

Something from a while ago; bit of a left turn...

After the shouting
He lies with his back to her
Longing for her touch
She lies in silence
Wishing he would turn to see
Her holding back tears
