My Dad passed away yesterday morning aged 80. Here he is with my late Mum in their younger and more irresponsible days with his motorcycle.

Yesterday I promoted Pepper Raccoon and it went well. So today I am promoting @thesewphist.bsky.social because again, nearly festive season and also frankly sometimes you just can't beat a good tea towel.

Promoting @pepperraccoon.com because it is nearly the festive part of the year, their range of goodies is very cool, and I am obsessed with the raven pins they sell. I must purchase more as I keep giving them away.

At least there is still coffee.

November. The year has sped past. I am waiting, patiently, slightly anxiously, for the holidays. This year has been shit.

Absolutely random thing to share: cleaned out the filter in the dishwasher since I took possession of the house in March 2024. Goodness knows how long it had been touched before then. Never had a dishwasher before so had no idea this was required. Won't share details but: holy mother of God.

It's tea towel pre-order time!

This round is open until Sunday, and now is the time to order for guaranteed delivery in early December.

PS if you're sneaky and order four, a coupon will magically be applied to your cart, saving you $15! ($35 each becomes $125 for the 4). It repeats if you order 8!
Elisabeth's Nasturtium tea towel was a hit last summer, someone even contacted us after Xmas to ask if they could order another after giving their one away...

Pre-orders are open 'til Sun, for delivery early Dec.

Will Nasturtiums or Pōhutukawa be this year's fav?

Everything about the invasion of Ukraine is grim. This is another footnote to add. Apparently infection rates amongst soldiers are growing because Russian army medics have to use unclean needles.

I worked in Wellington for a few days early in August and went to this cafe 2 days in a row. It was lovely. Not very large but friendly staff, very good coffee and a good place to sit and read. #PouākaiCafe #Wellington

I understand the unhappiness but... it seems desperately naïve of people. What did they think would happen? Everything about this new stadium will be more expensive than what we currently have in #Chch. Tickets, parking, food and drink. The prices will all go up.

An unexpectedly poignant memory of 15 years ago from @secondzeit.bsky.social . I think about the earthquakes every single day, even now.
My Dad died a few weeks ago, my Mum 11 years ago. I know the quakes were life-changing for both of them in different ways.

Last week has been varying degrees of rubbish. Dad's death, all of the arrangements, getting ill, the funeral yesterday and trying to slowly step back into work. Major life events are never ever straightforward and sometimes are downright fucking crap.
